World Wrestling Entertainment released a press release regarding their supreme ratings this past week for Friday Night Smackdown on Friday, February 25 and Monday Night Raw on Monday, February 28.
Smackdown laid the smacketh down on their competition this past Friday night on SYFY as they climbed to number 1 on the ratings ladder, beating competition such as Phineas, Ferb (The Disney Channel), The O’Reilly Factor (FOX News) and all of the NBA games on ESPN. Smackdown garnered the highest ratings on Friday for the cable channel SYFY since August 2008.
The February 25th episode of Smackdown was the most watched television program (cable and broadcast) among all males, beating out NBC, FOX, ABC, CW and all cable channels. It also was the most watched (broadcast and cable) among adults 18-49 and 25-54 demographics. It also garnered 1.2 million female viewers, stomping it’s competition on CW, TLC, the Food Network, Lifetime, Hallmark and Oxygen.
Monday night RAW also reigned supreme on Monday February 28, crushing the opposition with 5.6 million viewers and taking over the number one spot from the likes of American Pickers, Pawn Stars (History Channel) and college hoops on ESPN. RAW was the most watched television program over Chuck and the Cape (NBC) as well as every program on CW.
The Monday night RAW episode was the most watched program among males under 55, including 18 to 34 and 18 to 49 demographics. It also was the most watched among 18 to 34 and 25 to 54, beating out its competition on NBC and CW. The CW programming had no chance against RAW that night as RAW was watched by most adults 25-54.
As the World Wrestling Entertainment gears up for WrestleMania coming up on pay-per-view, on April 3 in Atlanta, GA at the Georgia Dome, their two weekly programs have produced some of the highest rated programs on cable television. WrestleMania is set to electrify the wrestling community and the world as the return of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson returns to the WWE as its host. Wrestling fans have been waiting 7 years for his return to the ring, will it happen at WrestleMania? Only time will tell if ‘The Rock’ will layeth the smacketh down on a WWE superstar, but one thing is for sure, it will be one electrifying night in Atlanta, Georgia.
Monday night RAW can be seen on USA every Monday night at 9pm EST. Smackdown airs every Friday night on the SYFY channel at 8pm EST.
