Days of our Lives just celebrated its 52nd anniversary on November 8th, is there a storyline that has been your favorite?
Mary Beth:
I always say Emily and Gideon. It was like we were shooting a movie. We had costumes [and] it felt very actory. When you have costumes it always feels so fun. We went on location.
Stephen: To North Carolina
Mary Beth: What was cool about that is we could experience the new love and falling in love again even though these characters were already down the pike in that. I really enjoyed that. And he (Stephen) sung “Down in the Valley” with a piano and I was having little kids at the time, and when I would rock them I would sing some version of the song which I got from him. I would say that for me what about you?
Stephen: Recently we had a nice storyline with [Joey], played by James Lastovic, and Tripp.
Mary Beth: I loved that too, painful but good.
Stephen: With [Joey] going to prison and him feeling like he had to do to deal with his guilt, so he could live with himself. He had to pay for his crimes. We thought that was a good storyline and it was based in reality. There wasn’t anything hokey or campy about it. It was about families and people.
Mary Beth: Which I think Days, when they do family stories, does very well, especially multigenerational things with the families. I think that’s one of its strong suits.

What do you think it is about Steve and Kayla that you have lasted together for so many years?
Mary Beth:
I think we love each other in real life. We are really good friends and we trust each other. When we rehearse we are not afraid to direct each other because we are on the fly, we do it so quickly and we liked to work it, we rehearse a lot and I’m not sure everybody does that and I think it shows. Also, we both are very into our families, into being good parents and good grandparents and that means a lot to us, so we bring that to these characters and who they are now. That really works.
Stephen: We are great friends, look from the moment that I met Mary Beth, I liked her. We have been fortunate that way that we just have personalities that are very compatible.
Mary Beth: And very opposite [laughs].
Stephen: Yeah very opposite and very compatible yeah.

Steve and Kayla have had a busy year with Joey, then Tripp, and now it seems like there’s something brewing with Kate, can you give any preview if we will see more than that?
Stephen:
The thing with Kate will eventually harken back to the story with Tripp and what happened and all of that. It sort of unfolds in the DiMera camp, and I can’t give much more information than that.
Mary Beth: We branch out too, and talk to some other people in town. A lot of it is just us in our little world!

TV Source: At your table in the pub.
Mary Beth:
[Laughs] I know we are always like what happened to our apartment, we had that pretty house where is that? But they have to put sets up everyone can use.
