Former ‘All My Children’ star Susan Lucci has joined the cast of ABC’s new Marc Cherry soap pilot ‘Devious Maids.’
Deadline reports Lucci will play Genevieve Delacourt (wow what a soapy name), a beautiful and wealthy woman who once seduced the rich and powerful, but now is only able to pull in her pool boy. The realization of how just how far her powers of seduction have fallen has driven her a bit insane.
Devious Maids, an adaptation of a Mexican soap, revolves around four maids (Roselyn Sanchez, Ana Ortiz, Judy Reyes, and Dania Ramirez) with ambition and dreams of their own while they work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills.
Lucci won’t be the only soap star on the show. Former General Hospital villainess Brianna Brown (ex-Lisa) was cast earlier this month as Taylor Slate, the beautiful, classy, intelligent wife yet insecure trophy wife of Michael Slate. Taylor is threatened by the presence of Michael’s ex-wife, Marisol, in his life.
Cherry (Desperate Housewives) will write and executive produce the ABC Studios production. Sabrina Wind, Paul Presburger, David Lonner, Larry Shuman, Michael Garcia and John Mass also serve as executive producer. Paul McGuigan is attached to direct the pilot.
For 42 years, Susan Lucci played the larger-than-life Erica Kane, a model, actress, fashionista, socialite, talk show host and cosmetics magnate on ABC’s All My Children. Over the course of her career, the actresses nabbed 21 Daytime Emmy nominations, earning her first and only win for Outstanding Lead Actress in 1999.
Lucci is also set to host Deadly Affairs, airing on Investigation Discovery later this year. The actress also has a guest starring role this season on Lifetime’s Army Wives.
So when will we get to view Devious Maids????
