ABC Orders Additional Episodes of '666 Park Avenue,' 'Last Resort,' 'Grey's Anatomy' and More

ABC has ordered two additional scripts for six series including veterans Grey’s Anatomy, Castle and freshmen dramas 666 Park Avenue and Last Resort.

The network’s order puts the episodes for Grey’s, Modern Family and The Middle at 24; Castle has 23. Ratings for Modern Family’s first four episodes of its fourth season are higher than the latter half of season 3. Averaging 12.76 million viewers each week, the comedy topped the night in demos for the third consecutive week this past Wednesday with a 4.7 ratings in the coveted 18-49 demographic.

Orders for Last Resort and Park Avenue may surprise some considering the series’ lackluster ratings performance. While a critical favorite, Resort has averaged 7.8 million viewers and a 1.9 in the adults 18-49 demo. Deadline reports both series experience substantial growth with factoring in ratings from DVRs. Last Resort creator/executive producer Shawn Ryan tweeted Friday: “Just got a call from ABC. Additional scripts ordered for #LastResort. Onward and upward.”

It should be noted, additional script orders does not guarantee a full-season pick up.
