'FNL' Signs Former 'World Turns' Hunk

Zach Roerig (ex-Casey, As the World Turns) has signed on for a role on Friday Night Lights. Roerig will play Cash, a local rodeo star who develops feelings for Tyra (played by Adrianne Palicki). At the end of last season, Tyra and Landry’s (Jesse Plemmons) romance was just starting to cool off. It’s been eight months and a lot can happen in that time. I can see Cash stepping in and Landry realizing what he may have lost.

In 2005, Roerig joined As the World Turns as Casey Hughes, the son of Margo (Ellen Dolan) and Tom (Scott Holmes). Roerig’s character eventually hooked up with Maddie Coleman, played by Alex Chando. The pair was also featured on an episode of MTV’s True Life Series. Interestingly, Scott Porter, who plays Jason Street on Friday Night Lights, filled in for Zach when the actor took time off to shoot the failed Aaron Spelling pilot Split Decision.

The actor also appeared last summer on One Life to Live as Hunter; the scumbag boyfriend of Sarah (Justis Bolding) hired to attack Todd Manning (Trevor St. John).
