Eddie Alderson, who since 2001 has played Matthew Buchanan, Bo and Nora’s son, on One Life to Live may soon be adding movie star to his resume. He is playing Sanford Clark in the movie “Changeling”. “Changeling” also stars Oscar winner Angelina Jolie and Oscar nominee John Malkovich and is directed by multiple Oscar winner Clint Eastwood. For only his second movie role, Alderson is gaining a lot of respect and praise regarding his performance. Being matched up against these powerhouse performers must have been a difficult job in itself but the buzz is that Alderson did a remarkable job as Sanford Clark.

“Changeling” is based on a true story in 1928’s Los Angeles where several children were kidnapped and murdered by a rancher. One woman, Christine Collins (Angelina Jolie) fights to get her son back. Several months later, her prayers are answered when her son is returned but she soon fears that the boy that was returned to her is not her son. She enlists the help of the Reverend Gustav Briegleb (John Malkovich) who believes her claim that the boy that was returned to her is not her son. The two fight the corrupt LAPD who want to silence Collins and Briegleb at all costs.

Alderson is playing the role of Sanford Clark, the nephew of the rancher who kidnapped and murdered the missing boys. Sanford was forced by his uncle to participate in the kidnappings and murders. Alderson reports that “his mom didn’t want him to do the movie because she was afraid it would give me nightmares….but I just had to do it because the role is too good.” Alderson goes on to say that meeting Clint Eastwood was intimidating and that he was shaking the first time he met him.

This film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last spring and will open in the United States on October 24th. Since the premiere at the Cannes film festival this film has had some Oscar buzz surrounding it. Come Oscar time, will the youngest Buchanan boy have an Oscar nomination? Only time will tell…
