'One Life' Taps Daphnee Duplaix For Rachel Gannon Recast

Former Passions star Daphnee Duplaix takes over the role of Rachel Gannon on “One Life to Live.”

One Life to Live is gearing up for more names from the past. Last week, Soap Opera Digest broke news of Llanview’s father/daughter team of Hank and Rachel Gannon returning to One Life to Live. While Nathan Purdee, who previously played the former DA from February 1992 through 2003, will reprise his role as Hank (click here to read our story), Ellen Bethea, the best known Rachel will not. Daphnee Duplaix will be taking over the role of Rachel starting April 2, 2009.

When Rachel first came to town back in 1992, she moved to be closer to her divorced parents. She struck up a relationship with Kevin. She had popped pills for some time when things turned stressful. Rachel went to rehab but she never got over the dependency. She turned to illegal drugs and prostitution. She cleaned up her drug use but not her life. She shot and killed Georgie Phillips (Jennifer Bransford) and served time in Statesville Prison.

This will be Duplaix’s second stint on a soap. She previously played the role of Valerie on Passions starting in 2004. The actress played Valerie before the reveal that Vincent (Phillip Jeanmarie) was really a hermaphrodite and he impersonated Valerie. It is hard to follow, even for the savviest of soap fans. Though Passions was cancelled in 2008, Duplaix has worked steadily. She is host of the Playboy TV game show Show Us Your Wits . Duplaix has also worked the primetime circuit on shows such as The District, Felicity, Just Shoot Me and Angel. She also appeared in the film Catch Me If You Can.
