Former ‘World Turns’ Actor To Play Joey; New Role For Josh Kelly
Just days after it reported that daytime newcomer Josh Kelly had been cast as Joey Buchanan, we have learned that One Life to Live has made a last minute casting change. Tom Degnan (ex-Adam/Riley, ATWT) will now play Joey, and Kelly will take a different role.
So they change? OLTL’s executive producer Frank Valentini explains,” After auditioning a talented group of guys for the role of Joey, we are excited to announce that not one but two of them will be joining the cast of One Life to Live in contract roles. We have now cast Tom Degnan in the role of Viki’s son, Joey Buchanan, and we have decided that Josh Kelly is a great fit for the other contract role that we have written. We look forward to both actors joining the show.”
A similar casting switcheroo happened in late 2008 when a last minute decision saw Scott Clifton (Liam, B&B et al) assume the role of Schuyler Joplin from Brett Claywell prior to the character’s on-screen debut. OLTL later created the character of Kyle Lewis for Claywell.
Degnan is expected to begin taping next week and will first air on November 24. No airdate is available yet for Kelly.
