With news that sent Twitter into overdrive, Soap Opera Digest broke the news this morning that fan favorite Billy Miller will shed his Billy Abbott persona when his contract expires this summer. With many upset, his fans began to wonder what was next for the actor…but in typical soap fashion, there is a cliffhanger! Our friends at CBS Soaps in Depth report Miller’s tenure at Y&R may not be over just yet.
Their sources tell them the Emmy winner is still in negotiations and a deal could be brokered to keep the star with the show.
The 31-year-old Miller first burst onto the daytime scene in 2007, playing bad seed Richie Novak on ABC’s All My Children. The charismatic actor switched networks to portray The Young and the Restless‘ womanizing playboy Billy Abbott, a legacy character, in 2008, winning the Daytime Emmy for Supporting Actor in 2010. Since joining Y&R, the actor has amassed groups of rather large fanbases, those for the actor himself, and those for his pairings, one with Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe) and current on-screen wife Amelia Heinle (Victoria). Fans of “Chilly” and “Villy” routinely spar in the comments section of our weekly Pulse Poll (civilly of course) about which pairing is better.
Miller’s exit would definitely come as a blow to fans of Billy and Victoria, especially after Heinle re-signed with the show just last month. At present, no decision has been announced on whether the role will be recast if the two parties cannot reach a deal.
What do you think fans? Do you want Billy Miller to stay? If not, what’s next for the actor? Primetime? Movies? Sound off below!
