‘Days of our Lives’ stars Deidre Hall (Marlena) and Drake Hogestyn (John) discuss returning to the show and what’s to come in September.

On August 10, TVSource Magazine headed to the set of Days of our Lives, getting a sneak peek at what fans will see when the series “reboots” itself beginning September 26. The show wants fans to embrace their theme for summer, “Watch now to see how we change” and during our visit to the set of “DAYS 2.0,” we were given the opportunity to see just how much has changed. We were treated to a sneak peek at the brand new, massive Horton Square set and interviewed some of the stars. Each day for the last week, we’ve published one of our interviews with the stars who participated in the tour.

The soap opera world was shocked in 2009 when Days of our Lives fired Deidre Hall (Marlena) and Drake Hogestyn (John). But after Hall went on a national book tour with current Days stars and executives, she was lured back to the town of Salem. But Marlena without John? Never. Of course Drake was bringing John back to Salem by her side. TVSource interviewed them just recently about their return, but had the chance to interview them both on the set of Days of our Lives. So, how does it feel to be back? “Fabulous!” exclaimed Deidre Hall, adding that “It is good, it is familiar, and it is family – it’s replenishing.”

Fans will be happy to know that John & Marlena have a home in Salem, as can be seen behind them in the above picture. We wanted to know how it was for Hall to reunite with her on-screen daughter Alison Sweeney (Sami), “I have not worked with her [one-on-one] unfortunately,” Hall stated. The actress noted they have had group scenes together and said hopefully those one-on-one scenes would be coming soon. They will also be reunited with Christie Clarke, who both have worked with on and off since she was young. Hall beamed about working with Clarke again and commented on how much she’s changed. “She has grown up, she’s matured, she’s a mommy now,” said Hall smiling. Hogestyn then shouted out, “Oh gosh! That is so weird!… She was a little pumpkin [when she came on].”

The reunions do not stop there as Patrick Muldoon (Austin) is also returning. Fans can expect the two couples to catch up on time lost. “You will see that right away, behind me, on this set. You will see [Austin, Carrie, Marlena, and John] in a scene that goes on and on and establishes what is happening. In that scene I saw Patrick go ‘Oh my gosh’, and it is what we were all feeling… just working together again, calling each other by character names.”

With a new regime in place, there’s a new atmosphere on the Days set, different than before. Hall says, “It is different, but in a good way. It is different in that the fat is cut off. Everyone shows up on set ready to go. We work harder, we move faster.” Drake added, “Before you would wait for the camera to make adjustments, the director to run up to the booth, it was just like tick-tock-tick-tock but now it’s like ‘That’s good. We are moving on,’ it keeps everyone on their toes.”

The most in demand question to be asked from our twitter followers was about the romance. Is the romance back at Days? “Absolutely,” exclaimed the actress. “We have already had the strawberry scene. It is in the can.”
