Chandler Massey (Will) and Camila Banus (Gabi) speak with Soap Opera Source at <em>Days of our Lives</em>’ fourth annual Day of Days fan event.
TVSource headed out to Los Angeles for Days of our Lives‘ fourth annual “Day of Days” fan event. The free (yes FREE) event was a chance for fans to mingle with some of their favorite stars, and gave the press a chance to have some face to face time with the cast.
When we told Chandler Massey (Will) how exited we were to finally get the chance to speak to him about his much buzzed about upcoming storyline, he commented how nice it was nice to finally be allowed to discuss it. His co-star and on-screen love interest Camila Banus (Gabi) joked, “We can finally openly speak about this – your gayness.”
It was confirmed last week that Massey’s character Will Horton would be the focus of DAYS’ upcoming homosexual storyline, which will feature Will coming to the realization that he’s gay. Massey tells us the storyline won’t be a quick coming out for the young Horton. “It’s about the layers,” said the young star. “What I can tell you is that it is going to be very, very gradual and happen over time. Everyone involved wants to do it right and tell a realistic, relevant story about a guy who is coming to terms with who he is.”
Chandler avoided giving too many details about the story, but his excitement was clear throughout the interview. “I can’t give specifics, but the writing is amazing. It affects so many people. They are doing a fantastic job on this and it is an emotional rollercoaster for sure.”
We asked Camila why Gabi hasn’t suspected that her boyfriend might be questioning his sexuality. “She doesn’t know. She doesn’t see anything [that indicates that].”
Though Camila doesn’t know how Gabi will react when she learns the truth, she did give some insight into how she thinks Gabi will look at the situation. “I feel like when it happens she is going to understand what it was. She is going to go through all those occasions where she felt something weird between them and know what it was. Obviously she will feel hurt because she’s invested a lot.” Chandler interjected: “Will loves her as well. There is just no sexual/physical attraction.”
Fans have noticed the lack of physical connection has become a minor obsession of Gabi’s. Camila jokes, “That’s all she wants!”
“There’s no doubt Will loves Gabi,” said Chandler as we prepared to end our interview. “It’s just not in the ‘let’s get freaky’ way,” he said with a smile.
