Day of Days 2011: An Interview With Galen Gering

0

Galen Gering (Rafe, DAYS) speaks with Soap Opera Source at Days of our Lives’ fourth annual Day of Days fan event.

Galen Gering (Rafe) has had a rather hectic schedule these past few months. Not only is he Alison Sweeney’s (Sami) leading man on Days of our Lives but, but he just wrapped season one of the E! reality show Dirty Soap. “It’s been crazy. I was actually filming three shows at the same time because I was doing Venice too. It was one on top of the other. I felt like I was going to lose my mind at one point. But as an actor it is a great position to be in. I enjoyed it.”

Since Dirty Soap premiered, he’s been recognized by fans who don’t watch soaps, but do watch the reality show on E!. “I was out last night and got recognized from [Dirty Soap], usually it’s [from] Passions or Days of our Lives. The actor says he’s happy about that, as it validates his decision to do the show. “The goal was to have another outlet to bring exposure to Days, daytime and myself. As a person exposing yourself in the way we have makes you very vulnerable. Sometimes the way they edit everything together isn’t the way everything happened.”

Galen also talked about the internal conflicts happening between Sami and Rafe. “Sami is working through some stuff that Rafe doesn’t know about. She has this job now that is putting a lot of pressure on her, and Rafe doesn’t have a job. [On top of that], her sister [Carrie] and ex [Austin] have come back to town. He says that while there’s a lot of stuff going on in their lives, “Rafe feels like she isn’t being herself and they’re not connecting.”

The actor told us he’s pleased with what’s coming up for Rafe. “The stuff I am shooting right now I am really enjoying. He is getting this sense of independence. He is recognizing where his strengths lie. That is a lot of fun.”
