GH’s Kristen Storms not returning as soon as expected; B&B’s Brandon Beemer, Zack Conroy off contract; DAYS’ Celeste Recast!
GENERAL HOSPITAL
Yesterday, Soap Opera Digest revealed that Kirsten Storms, who was set to return to General Hospital as Maxie later this month, will not return as previously expected. Jen Lilley, who’s filled in for Kirsten since September, will continue playing the role until further notice. Said a GH rep, “Kirsten Storms will not be able to return to General Hospital as soon as originally hoped and announced. Jen Lilley will continue to play Maxie Jones for the foreseeable future.”
THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL
B&B stars Brandon Beemer (Owen) and Zack Conroy (Oliver) have been taken off contract. Beemer wrote on Twitter Thursday, “I’ve been off contract for quite a few months now, but all is good…nothing to worry about. That can change any time. I’m working this week at B&B on some really great stuff that I know you’ll enjoy! [Thanks] for the kind words & support!” Beemer’s level of screen time has increased in recent weeks, as the show seems poised to reunite Jackie (Lesley Anne Down) and Owen. Conroy has been without a major story since Oliver’s relationship with Hope (Kim Matula) ended in 2010.
THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS
TV Guide reports primetime star Ken Howard (Cane, Crossing Jordan, The White Shadow) has been cast as Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Avery’s (Jessica Collins) estranged father George. The Tony award and two-time Emmy winner will make his debut on February 23. The actor is expected to be around for four episodes. Howard’s no stranger to soaps, appearing as Garrett Boydston popular 80s primetime soaps Dynasty and The Colbys.
Signy Coleman returns as Adam’s mother Hope this February. Soap Opera Digest reports the actress will be involved in Adam’s “emotional trip down memory lane” on February 17. Coleman currently stars and serves as executive producer on the new online web soap River Ridge. For more on River Ridge, visit http://riverridgeseries.com/
DAYS OF OUR LIVES
When Lexie’s (Renee Jones) mother Celeste returns to Salem this spring, she’ll look a little different than you’ll remember. Due to a scheduling conflict involving Celeste’s originator Tanya Boyd, Days of our Lives recast the role with Beverly Todd. Todd’s credits include various guest-starring roles in primetime and supporting roles in film. Todd will first air April 3.
