'General Hospital's' Jason Cook To Exit

2

Jason Cook

Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Jason Cook (Matt Hunter), who joined ‘General Hospital’ in 2008, will depart the soap next month.

Cook’s departure shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. The soap recently revealed it was Matt who murdered the villainous Dr. Lisa Niles (Brianna Brown) in a drunken incident aboard a yacht last fall. Matt’s girlfriend Maxie serving time in jail for murder, confessing to the crime partly to assuage her guilt in Robin’s death (thereby not taking away Patrick’s brother) and to protect Matt!

“I was going to have to take several months off the show for all these other things I’m working on,” said the actor to SOD. “One would have been this summer, to do LifeCHANGE and other shoots, as well as my new cooking show, Chop This. It’s an on-location cooking show with a different restaurant chef showing us a couple of recipes each week. If Genreful  gets funded, I have that to do, too. So, I am stepping away for the time being. There is no talk about me coming back, but I was going to have to take time off anyway.”

A statement from General Hospital was not available at press time. TVSource will continue to update as more information becomes available.
