The CW’s upcoming drama Reign is adding to the cast. Vegas’ Shawn Doyle has signed on to play Mary’s (Adelaide Kane) uncle, who arrives at the French Court not long after his niece does.

According to TVLine, which first reported the casting, Claude is described as “seductive and libertine and arrives to advise his niece on matters both political and personal. Along the way, he will rouse trouble between the King and Queen of France.”

The description goes on to say that he’s “charismatic, amusing, worldly and powerful and Claude is a master of sexual intrigue, but is also capable of savage retribution and he’ll do anything it takes to maintain his power and position at Court.”

While we’re not allowed to formally review the pilot yet, we can say that teenage Mary can use as many allies as she can get.

In addition to his recent role on Vegas, Doyle has appeared in King and Maxwell, Lost Girl, Flashpoint, Saving Hope and Big Love.

Reign premieres Thursday, Oct. 10 at 9/8c on The CW.
