Once again, it’s a race to rescue Elena on the midseason finale of The Vampire Diaries. When we last saw her, Elena was strapped to a table in the Augustine Society lab and she’d just found out that Damon’s former cellmate Enzo was still alive.
Speaking of Damon, he’s still a prisoner too in “Fifty Shades of Grayson.” Part of Dr. Wes’ master plan seems to be to unleash Enzo on his former friend – the man who chose himself and left him to die in a burning cage. But we’re going to take an educated guess and assume that Enzo is probably more interested in bringing down the people who have been torturing him for years and will end up freeing Damon instead.
Meanwhile, Stefan has taken Aaron hostage to use him as leverage to get Elena back. Considering everything Stefan has been through this season, it’s probably not the best idea for Dr. Wes to call his bluff.
Elsewhere, Katherine seems to have found a new lease on life (probably all that making out with Stefan). She’s turned to Matt to help her get back in shape and prolong her life as long as possible. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like Katherine’s fragile body is interested as she discovers a new disadvantage of age.
The Vampire Diaries will air its midseason finale Thursday, Dec. 12 at 8/7c on The CW.
