We don’t normally cover comedy news here at TVSource, but we’re more than willing to make an exception for one of our favorites. Justin Hartley, who is currently guest starring on Revenge as Victoria’s trouble son Patrick, has landed a lead role in a new comedy pilot.

Damaged Goods, a pilot ordered by ABC, focuses on how sexual politics have changed between men and women in the post-feminist era. Hartley will play Tim, a smart and egotistical man, who is hit hard when his girlfriend and law firm colleague gets the promotion that he was expected to get, according to Deadline, which first reported the casting news.

When Tim is unable to be happy for her or be with a woman who now outranks him, it seems like their relationship is heading for an unhappy ending, but then she resigns. Steve Talley and Ben Lawson are also part of the cast.

We’re not sure what this means for Hartley’s role on Revenge, although we’ve had a feeling that Patrick was heading down a path of no return as soon as he lit the match to burn down his mother’s gallery.

In addition to Revenge, Hartley’s past work includes guest roles on Hart of Dixie, Castle and Chuck. Before that he starred in the far too short-lived Emily Owens, M.D. and is perhaps best known for his roles as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow on Smallville and Fox Crane on Passions.

Revenge returns Sunday, March 9 on ABC.
