International soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful today announced the casting of Australian soap star Ashleigh Brewer in the newly created contract role of Ivy Forrester.
The Neighbours alum will play Ivy, the niece of Forrester family patriarch Eric Forrester (John McCook).
“We are thrilled to introduce Ashleigh at the [Monte Carlo Television Festival’s International TV Audience Awards], whose poise and talent are already well known in Australia and the UK,” says executive producer and head writer Bradley Bell.
Ivy is the daughter of Eric’s younger brother, John Forrester, who has been living in Sydney. A young, worldly designer, Ivy is brought in to work on the new Hope for the Future jewelry line.
“It won’t be long before she finds herself deeply entangled in the lives and loves of our younger generation,” previewed Bell.
The 23 year old beauty is best known for her role as Kate Ramsay on the Australian soap opera, Neighbours. After five years on the show, the actress announced her departure last fall. “Having now been on Neighbours for over five years, I really feel like I’ve done my character justice and the time is right to close this chapter and open the next exciting one,” said the actress in a statement at the time. “I’m incredibly grateful for the time I’ve spent on Neighbours and now I’m ready to challenge myself in a new and different ways. I also want to do more traveling, something I haven’t been able to do.”
Her character was killed off in the April 8 episode, which featured Kate accepting her boyfriend Mark’s (Scott McGregor) marriage proposal, only to be shot soon after. She died in his arms.
Brewer will make her first appearance on the series in the U.S. in early July.
