‘General Hospital,’ CBS Lead Daytime Emmy Nominations

GENERAL HOSPITAL - The past and future will collide in honor of "General Hospital's" 52nd anniversary on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. Select scenes from the very first "GH" episode that aired on April 1, 1963 will be revisited, and the story will be expanded in order to answer questions raised that day. Original characters Dr. Steve Hardy will be played by Jason Thompson (Dr. Patrick Drake), Nurse Jesse Brewer will be played by Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth Webber) and Dr. Phil Brewer will be played by Ryan Carnes (Lucas Jones). ABC’s General Hospital leads with 28 nominations for the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

As previously reported, the nominations for the 2015 Daytime Emmy Awards were announced live on CBS’ The Talk at 2:00 pm today. Following the broadcast, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced the full list of nominees. The awards ceremony will be televised live on Pop at 8:00 p.m. EDT/5:00 p.m. PDT from the Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, CA.

The Daytime Emmy Awards recognize outstanding achievement in all fields of daytime television production and are presented to individuals and programs broadcast from 2:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. during the 2014 calendar year.

The Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards gala, which honors the more than 65 craft categories behind the many shows that grace the Daytime genre, will be held at the Universal Hilton on Friday, April 24th, 2015 with a reception at 5:30 p.m.

General Hospital leads the soap pack with 28 overall nominations including best drama series, writing team, directing and all acting categories. CBS leads the networks with 62 total nominations, with ABC coming in fourth with 35 and NBC in fifth with 20.
