ABC continues to fill out the cast for the second season of its anthology crime drama Secrets & Lies, casting 90210 alum AnnaLynne McCord in a recurring role.
The new season follows a new storyline and new set of characters, with Juliette Lewis serving as the only returning cast member. Lewis reprises her role as detective Andrea Cornell, the lead investigator working to solve the murder of Kate Warner. The Following’s Michael Ealy was cast as the main protagonist for the second season. Ealy plays Eric Warner, the smart, successful heir-apparent to his family’s private equity firm. The stars seem to have aligned in his favor — with a new wife, rising career and bright future ahead of him — that is until his wife Kate is murdered, and he becomes the prime suspect.
Deadline reports AnnaLynne McCord will play Eric’s sister-in-law Melanie. Melanie, described as “outspoken and slightly inappropriate” is married to Patrick (Chicago Fire’s Charlie Barnett), the youngest Warner child. Marrying into the Warner family isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, given they continue to treat her as an outsider. McCord’s other TV credits include American Heiress, Nip/Tuck, Dallas and Stalker.
Rounding out the cast is Mekia Cox (Grey’s Anatomy, Almost Human) as Amanda Warner, Eric’s sister and defense attorney who stands by her brother when he becomes the target of Detective Cornell’s investigation; Terry O’Quinn (Lost) as John Warner, Eric’s father, a devoted father and business tycoon who’s ready to turn over the business to his eldest son, but is forced to change plans after a tragic event; Charlie Barnett as Patrick Warner, the youngest Warner who works as an analyst at his family’s firm; Jordana Brewster (Dallas) as Kate Warner, an attorney working for the Warner’s firm and wife of Eric.
The ABC Studios drama is slated for a mid-season 2016 return.
