The Daytime Emmy Awards were held Sunday, May 1 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites in Los Angeles. It was a star filled night as the best of Daytime television was honored. General Hospital walked away the evening’s top winner, earning Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series, Directing, and Lead, Supporting and Younger Actor.

As much as the night was a celebration of Daytime, there was also a major component missing — the support of fans. A lack of television outlet and last minute difficulties in putting together a streaming alternative resulted in millions of fans at home unable to tune in. Thankfully, the soap press including TV Source, Soapcentral.com, Buzzworthy Radio and others each did their parts in providing ways for viewers to partake in the ceremony utilizing social media platforms Twitter, Periscope and more. It wasn’t the same as watching on TV or having a HD stream, but it was the best given the circumstances.

Soap press devotes coverage to daytime year round, not just when its time for the Emmys. We know how important it is for the actors to be seen in their element, the one night a year where they get to be treated as the stars they truly are. We do our diligence to give them the respect and coverage they deserve.

Supposedly, a stream of the show will be available for viewing later today.
