Gays of Our Lives: The Confession

David can be a bastard when he wants to be, can’t he?  While I enjoy seeing his mean side, I just think he’s going to regret his nasty attitude towards Jac and Lowri when the truth comes out.  They won’t forget he threatened and humiliated them.  David is digging a big hole for himself.  As for Dani, I really find her habit of planning expensive events for her and David to do (and expecting David to foot half the bill) to be annoying and rude.  Couples usually discuss these things first, don’t they?  Even if David wasn’t going to dump her, they would need to have a serious talk about that.

I’m curious where this storyline with the tickets will end.  I’m glad Rhys is finally doing the right thing where is brother is concerned.  It was Rhys’ fault, he should have never let it go this far.  But I can’t imagine Rhys would be going to jail because of his relationship with David and that storyline.  So what’s the endgame here?  Or maybe Rhys will go jail just as he and David can be together, putting a roadblock their path?  I never considered that, but maybe that’s what happens.  Huh.

I wondered at first if this would be the start of a new story for Tyler and Iolo, but I doubt it as the situation played out and was resolved over the next few episodes and neither Tyler and Iolo appeared.  Not only that, we didn’t get any scenes of them alone discussing what had happened.  I imagine the whole thing will be dropped and forgotten.  I can’t say I’m too upset about it.  I really wouldn’t want that as a story for them.  But can we get a story for them soon?

What is about Scarlett and her jailbird sons?  When Patrick came back he was bisexual and had a fling with Robbie and as spoilers for next week reveal, Stevie is bisexual and will get involved with Robbie.  Now is Stevie a bisexual like Patrick in that he has a one night stand with Robbie and then a long term affair with a woman and sort of pretend the gay stuff never happened?  I guess we’ll find out.

I’m going to guess probably not if only because it’s been widely reported that Gary Lamont, who plays Robbie, has left the show and that would mean the show would be without a gay/bi character.  And as long as I’ve watched the show they’ve always had one.   So maybe Stevie is here to take Robbie’s place before goes?  I hope so.  Stevie has an edge and a dark side and I like that.  This show has always been good at writing gay characters unlike those we’ve seen before like Rory, Nathan and Will.  It would be great if they were going to do it again.

I thought it was super contrived that Lenny knew where Stevie was already and that Stevie had been working for him for years.  And Lenny manipulating Stevie’s reunion with his family seems stupid.  It won’t be long before they find out Stevie is working for Lenny.  These things never stay secret.

I watch a lot of television, probably too much. But can you really watch too much TV? I've yet to find out. Anyway, I especially love TV when they give us positive portrayals of gays, something that has gotten better but we're still fighting for. I've written about gays in television for many years first at the much missed After Elton, then New Now Next and now at TV Source. It's kind of a passion of mine and I look forward to sharing it with you.

  1. I thought that I recognized Lofty’s fiance’s brother. It’s Dr. Bailey.

  2. Re: Corrie. I did like Audrey bringing up the baby Todd and Sarah lost (ironically also named Billy) during that conversation with the vicar. I think the story could be interesting if they keep playing that string of it, especially because I think this girl is around the same age that Billy would be now.

It’s pretty early into their relationship to throw a kid into it, but there are some difference about it I appreciate. No last gasp of straightness ONS responsible, for example, like with Kyle/Fish, Will/Sonny, etc. And the child being that age probably means they’re throw her in with Simon and Amy Barlow, which could get them bigger story.

  3. I know you’ve said your not going to say anything about Days of Our Lives until the new writers start, but one of the most disgusting things that has NOT happened are all of the missed opportunities that Paul & Sonny have had to at least hug or a little kiss when parting. all of the straight characters have done it over and over. these writers are coming across as homophobic to say the least…
