The timing of NBC’s Days of our Lives overtaking ABC’s General Hospital in the ratings couldn’t have been better for the theme of this TV Source podcast episode as it gave us the idea to have for a segment focused on soap ratings. When fans discuss #WhyRatingsAreLow — for soaps or primetime series — we can usually find valid critiques about the creative state, but is there a direct relation to quality TV drawing more viewers? If so why isn’t NBC’s Timeless renewed already?! In this episode, we discuss a variety of subjects relating to the soap ratings game – antiquated Nielsen system, not counting online viewing, poor timeslots, peak TV, out of touch creatives, lack of a cool factor and more – all using Fan Excuse Bingo!
