Five Teasers for ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Part 2’

0

The witch is back. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Part 2 is set to cast a spell on Netflix Friday, April 5th and, ahead of the highly-anticipated launch, we’re giving fans a preview of the spellbinding stories that await…

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. Tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.

Sabrina Spellman’s Day(s) Off

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina spent much of its first season in the town of Greendale with Sabrina and her friends at Baxter High. While the students of Baxter High are still present in Part 2, this time around the focus is on the Academy of Unseen Arts and, in my opinion, the show is all the better for it.

Lupercalia on the Brain

The third episode of Sabrina Part 2 is easily the standout of the five screened for critics. Set during the witches’ version of Valentine’s Day, Lupercalia, the romantic relationships of Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka), Hilda (Lucy Davis), and Zelda (Miranda Otto) take center stage — and no couple will be the same by episode’s end.

An Itch to Scratch

Sabrina (Shipka) and Harvey (Ross Lynch) breaking up gives Nicholas Scratch (Gavin Leatherwood), a character given little to do last season, his chance in the spotlight. Leatherwood manages to bring both an edge and a sweetness to the bad boy warlock, which will leave Sabrina (and the fans!) swooning. Viewers also get insight into Nicholas’ troubled past — a past that will throw a wrench in his budding romance with Sabrina.

Ch-Ch-Changes

Fans of Susie Putnam (Lachlan Watson) will be happy to know the character’s journey is explored even further in Part 2, as Susie comes out as transgender and chooses a new name: Theo. Viewers will need tissues handy during the scene where Theo comes out to his father.

Nice Day for a Witch Wedding

That sound you hear? It’s the wedding bells ringing for two characters this season. Will this couple make it down the aisle without a hitch? You’ll just have to wait and see. One thing is certain: there will be blood.

Cast includes: Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis, Ross Lynch, Michelle Gomez, Chance Perdomo, Jaz Sinclair, Richard Coyle, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, Abigail Cowen, Lachlan Watson, Bronson Pinchot, and Gavin Leatherwood.

Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa executive produces alongside Riverdale collaborators Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater and Lee Toland Krieger. The drama hails from Warner Bros. Television-based Berlanti Productions.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Part 2 arrives on Netflix Friday, April 5th.
