Your TV Source Roundup: Emily VanCamp Exits ‘The Resident’, ‘You’ Premiere Date, The CW Orders ‘Tom Swift’, ‘The View’ Hits 25, ‘Batwoman’ Casts Poison Ivy and More!

Emily VanCamp is exiting The Resident after four seasons. Her character’s story line will be wrapped up at the beginning of Season 5 and the trailer gives an ominous feeling. The Resident returns on Fox September 21.

Netflix has set a return date for season 3 of You. The new season will premiere October 15. 

The CW has ordered Tom Swift, starring Tian Richards as a Black, gay billionaire inventor, to series. The series is a spinoff of The CW’s Nancy Drew where the character made an appearance last season. The series remained in contention after Upfronts where the network ordered All American: Homecoming and Naomi to series. The CW also has a live action The Powerpuff Girls series Powerpuff going back to the refilm a new pilot for future consideration after passing on its original pilot this past Upfronts. 

Season 25 of The View is set to premiere September 7. The series will return in studio for the first time in a year and a half and will feature an in person audience. Following the departure of Meghan McCain, guest co hosts will fill in. Mia Love will be the first guest co-host for premiere week. Other guests include Condoleezza Rice, Carly Fiorina, Gretchen Carlson, S.E. Cupp, Eboni K. Williams, Alyssa Farah, Mary Katherine Ham, and Cameran Eubanks. Additionally, former The View co-hosts will pop in to guest co-host throughout the season with Star Jones being the first on September 10. 

Bridget Regan is set to play the villain known as Poison Ivy on Batwoman. Season 3 will introduce Pamela Isley, her real identity, in a recurring role. 

Jon Stewart’s return to TV has a premiere date. The Problem With Jon Stewart will begin streaming on Apple TV+ September 30. New episodes will debut every other week. A companion podcast series will also release weekly. 

CSI: Vegas premieres on CBS October 6 and picks up six years after the original CSI finale. A new group of CSI investigators must enlist the help of older members of the team.

Netflix has picked up Manifest for a supersized final season following it’s cancellation at NBC. The streamer will air 20 episodes broken up into parts that will provide the series with a proper conclusion. NBC entered negotiations following cancelling the series, but Netflix ultimately picked up the series, offering more episodes and a bigger budget. 

Judy Greer and Katy Mixon have joined the cast of NBC’s upcoming limited series The Thing About Pam. They join Renée Zellweger and Josh Duhamel. 

Magnolia Network has ordered two more series, The Craftsman and The Art of Vintage. The network additionally ordered two more pilots, One Big Day with Bob Goff and From Grandma, with Love. Magnolia Network currently streams on discovery+ and will have its linear launch in 2022, replacing DIY Network. 

Anime series To Your Eternity has been renewed for a second season. The new season will premiere fall 2022. The series streams on Crunchyroll. 

Turner Classic Movies is heading for a refresh September 1. Details are limited, but the network is teasing a possible rebranding, focusing heavily on the letter C.
