Production on the fifth and final season of Stranger Things has begun. A love letter to the ’80s classic genre films that captivated a generation, the series is a thrilling drama set in the seemingly normal Midwestern town of Hawkins, Indiana. After a boy vanishes into thin air, his close-knit group of friends and family search for answers and are pulled into a high-stakes and deadly series of events. Beneath the surface of their ordinary town lurks an extraordinary supernatural mystery, along with top-secret government experiments and a dangerous gateway that connects our world to a powerful yet sinister realm. Friendships will be tested and lives will be altered as what they discover will change Hawkins and possibly the world – forever. One Day premieres on Netflix February 8. Based on the book by David Nicholls, the limited series tells the story of Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew who, on 15th July 1988, the night of their graduation, speak for the very first time. The next morning, they go their separate ways but where will they be on this one ordinary day the next year, and the year after that, and every year that follows? Each of the fourteen episodes finds Dex and Em, one year older, on this one particular date, as they grow and change, move together and apart, experience joy and heartbreak.
Deal or No Deal Island premieres February 26 on NBC. Hosted by Joe Manganiello, models Ben Crofchick and Kamari Love join the cast as the Banker’s Assistants – hired to keep a watchful eye on the valuable briefcases hidden throughout the island and assisting with the cases in each pivotal game. The iconic briefcases are hidden around the island and worth over $200 million in prize money split between them. In each episode, players compete in daring challenges to secure the briefcases that will be used in that night’s game of Deal or No Deal. The player who snags the highest-value case gains immunity and gets to choose a fellow player to enter “The Temple.” The chosen competitor must then play a high-stakes game of Deal or No Deal. If the player makes a bad deal and accepts an offer that is a lesser value than what is in their chosen case, they are immediately eliminated. If the player makes a good deal and accepts an offer that is a higher value than what is in their case, the power is in their hands and they get to select who to eliminate. The winnings from each gamewill be added to a group pot that will grow to an exponential value throughout the season. At the end of the season, the last player standing will face the Banker to potentially win the biggest prize in the show’s history. Included in the lineup are reality TV fan favorites “Boston” Rob Mariano and Claudia Jordan who will be vying to get their hands on valuable briefcases hidden on the elusive Banker’s private island.
Season three of Sort Of premieres January 18 on Max. Sabi comes to terms with feelings of grief and an unexpected sense of freedom following the death of their father. Without the constraints of living up to dad’s expectations, Sabi confronts big questions about their identity, prompting some massive life choices. In a season that has the entire ensemble grappling with aftermaths, a rebirth comes in a sort of messy, sort of hopeful, sort of “Sort Of” way.

Prime Video has ordered Criminal based on the graphic novel of the same name by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips. The series consists of an interlocking universe of crime stories.
Annaleigh Ashford is set to star in Paramount+’s eight episode series Happy Face set to premiere in 2025. Ashford will play the lead role of Melissa in the series, which is inspired by the true-life story of Melissa Moore; the critically acclaimed Happy Face podcast from iHeartPodcasts and Moore; and the autobiography Shattered Silence, written by Moore with M. Bridget Cook. At 15, Moore discovered that her beloved father was the prolific serial killer known as “Happy Face.” As an adult, she has changed her name and guarded her secret while her father has been serving life in prison. Jumping off from Moore’s true-life story, in the series Melissa’s father contacts her to take credit for another victim, pulling her into an extraordinary investigation of her father and his crimes. As she discovers the impact her father had on his victims’ families, she must face a reckoning of her own identity.
Anime series Metallic Rouge premieres on Crunchyroll January 10. An English dub will be released at a later date. A young girl named Rouge carries out an operation to take out nine androids who threaten humanity.
CBS has announced an exclusive residency in Las Vegas for the week of Super Bowl LVIII, with the Fountains of Bellagio serving as the backdrop of the Network’s central broadcast location. CBS will offer weeklong, multiplatform coverage of the Super Bowl from all angles including sports, news and entertainment leading up to CBS Sports’ presentation of the game on February 11.
ESPN has signed anchor and studio host Kevin Negandhi to a new, multi-year contract. Negandhi will continue his hosting duties on SportsCenter along with Special Olympics and ABC’s coverage of college football and the NBA Draft.
