The Muppet Show returns with a special event February 4 on Disney+ and ABC. Kermit, Miss Piggy and the beloved Muppet gang are back with a brand-new special event. Music, comedy, and a whole lot of chaos are bound to ensue when The Muppets once again take the stage of the original Muppet Theatre with their very special guest, Sabrina Carpenter! Veteran Muppet performers Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman and Matt Vogel will perform the majority of the iconic Muppet characters in this production, supported by a talented team of additional performers. Dave Goelz, who has performed with The Muppets for over 50 years, was one of the performers on the original The Muppet Show and originated the characters Gonzo and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, among many others. In 2026, The Muppet Show, which aired from 1976 to 198, will celebrate its 50th anniversary. 

The eighth and final season of Outlander premieres March 6 on Starz. The final opening title sequence for the timeless romantic drama series will be sung by Annie Lennox. The Skye Boat Song is a late 19th century Jacobite lament that has become synonymous with Outlander since the series’ debut in 2014. Each season’s opening title sequences have been tailored by series composer Bear McCreary, drawing inspiration from the upcoming storylines and locations. Previous versions have been performed by Raya Yarbrough, Griogair and, mostly recently, the late Sinéad O’Connor for the series’ seventh season. As Season Eight begins, Jamie and Claire soon find the war has followed them home to Fraser’s Ridge, now a thriving settlement that has grown and flourished in their absence. With new arrivals and changes made during their years away, the Frasers are confronted with the question of what they are willing to sacrifice for the place they call home and, more importantly, what they would sacrifice to stay together. While the Frasers keep a united front against outside intruders, family secrets finally coming to light threaten to tear them apart from the inside. Although they’ve left the war for America’s freedom behind, their fight for Fraser’s Ridge has only just begun.

Season eight of The Rookie premieres January 6 on ABC. The series takes on a world of new challenges. Get ready for a season premiere with explosive action, unexpected alliances, and cases that stretch across continents.

Season three of Tell Me Lies premieres January 13 on hulu with the first two episodes. The series follows Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco as they’ve rekindled their tumultuous romance in time for spring semester at Baird College. While they promise things will be different this time, past indiscretions hinder their best intentions, and Lucy finds herself embroiled in a controversy she wants nothing to do with. Meanwhile, the disastrous repercussions from the previous year also force Lucy and Stephen’s friends to face their own destructive behaviors. As scandalous secrets fester around campus, vicious consequences threaten Lucy and everyone in her circle. 

Season two of Hollywood Squares premieres January 7 on CBS. The new season will feature 70 new celebrity guests.This season’s newcomers who will share the board with famed center square Drew Barrymore include Anthony Anderson, Glenn Close, Kat Dennings, Fortune Feimster, Zarna Garg, Jay Mohr, Padma Lakshmi, Joel McHale, Ariana Debose and Arsenio Hall. Fan-favorite celebrities are back, including Whitney Cummings, Tiffany Haddish, Pete Holmes, Lil Rel Howery, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, Leslie Jones, Jo Koy, Ross Mathews, Ms. Pat and RuPaul. 

Season ten of Tyler Perry’s Sistas premieres January 7 on BET. The new season promises the laughter, love, and layered drama that have made Sistas a cultural phenomenon. 

Apple TV announced the expansion of Legendary’s “Monsterverse” with a thrilling new untitled Young Lee Shaw prequel starring Wyatt Russell reprising his role as Colonel Lee Shaw. The spinoff series will follow the story of Colonel Lee Shaw, an American operative who, in 1984, went on a secret mission behind enemy lines in an attempt to stop the Soviets from unleashing a horrific new Titan big enough to destroy the U.S. and turn the tide of the Cold War. 

Netflix has ordered a series adaptation of Liz Moore’s novel “The God of the Woods.” The series is a multigenerational drama series set in the Adirondacks. It explores the Van Laar family’s dark secrets, class tensions, and the mysterious disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar from her family’s summer camp – in the wake of an earlier family tragedy that may be related. As the past and present collide, the Van Laars’ wealth and influence unravel, revealing the damaging consequences of privilege and the abuse of power. 

Four-part mystery thriller series Vanished will premiere February 1 on MGM+. The series stars Kaley Cuoco and Sam Claflin. When a couple’s trip to Paris takes a dark turn with the sudden disappearance of her boyfriend Tom aboard a train to the south of France, Alice is plunged into a web of intrigue and danger, uncovering shocking secrets about the man she thought she knew. Additional cast includes Karin Viard, Matthias Schweighöfer, Simon Abkarian and Dar Zuzovsky.

Mercenary: An Extraction Series has wrapped production. The series is set in the Extraction universe and stars Omar Sy. In this action-packed thriller, a mercenary embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue hostages in Libya. Trapped between warring factions and ruthless killers, he must navigate life-or-death choices while confronting deep emotional wounds. The series explores the trauma, betrayal, and moral conflicts of characters pushed to the edge. This news follows the recent announcement that the Extraction universe will also expand to South Korea with the new action thriller film TYGO, starring Don Lee, Lee Jin-uk, and BLACKPINK’s Lalisa ‘LISA’ Manobal. 

Season twelve of Maine Cabin Masters premieres December 29 on Magnolia Network. Builder Chase Morrill, along with Ashley Morrill-Eldridge and Ryan Eldridge, his sister and brother-in-law, rebuild cabins in some of the most beautiful areas of Maine. From historic cottages to camp cabins, scenic retreats get the facelifts they need.

CBS will celebrate the life of Rob Reiner in CBS News: Rob Reiner – Scenes from a Life December 21. As an actor, director, filmmaker and humanitarian, Rob Reiner impacted and inspired the lives of millions. Now, CBS celebrates his life and life’s work through the eyes of those who knew him. Kathy Bates, Annette Bening, Albert Brooks, Michael Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland, Jerry O’Connell and Mandy Patinkin are among Reiner’s friends who open up in new, emotional interviews about his extraordinary career and legacy. The previously scheduled holiday themed episode of Hollywood Squares will now air December 22. 

Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole premieres March 26 on Netflix. Step into the shadowy streets of Oslo, where nothing is as it seems and every clue draws you deeper into the city’s dark heart. Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole (Norwegian title: Jo Nesbøs Harry Hole) brings the legendary Norwegian anti-hero Harry Hole to life in a gripping nine-episode serial killer mystery. 

Bert Kreischer and HARDY will host New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash December 31 on CBS. Haley Baylee will correspond from New York City and count down with the East Coast at midnight ET for New York City’s Ball Drop. Kreischer and HARDY will keep the party going through midnight CT, featuring Nashville’s renowned Music Note Drop at the Bicentennial Stage. HARDY will also perform live at Bicentennial Park in Nashville along with previously announced headliners Jason Aldean, Lainey Wilson and Bailey Zimmerman, and special guests CeCe Winans and the Fisk Jubilee Singers. Additionally, the five-hour special will feature performances by Dierks Bentley, Brooks & Dunn, Rascal Flatts, Riley Green, Marcus King, Megan Moroney, Zach Top, Keith Urban, Gretchen Wilson and Stephen Wilson Jr. from various venues across the city, as well as special appearances by Dusty Slay, Cassie DiLaura, Buzz Brainard and Kayla Harrison. 

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and YouTube signed a multi-year deal that will give YouTube the exclusive global rights to the Oscars, beginning in 2029 with the 101st Oscars ceremony and running through 2033. The Oscars, including red carpet coverage, behind-the-scenes content, Governors Ball access, and more, will be available live and for free to over 2 billion viewers around the world on YouTube, and to YouTube TV subscribers in the United States. YouTube will help make the Oscars accessible to the Academy’s growing global audience through features such as closed captioning and audio tracks available in multiple languages. The partnership also will include worldwide access for film fans to other Academy events and programs exclusively on the Oscars YouTube channel. This will include the Governors Awards, the Oscars Nominations Announcement, the Oscars Nominees Luncheon, the Student Academy Awards, the Scientific and Technical Awards, Academy member and filmmaker interviews, film education programs, podcasts, and more. In addition, through this holistic partnership, the Google Arts & Culture initiative will help provide digital access to select Academy Museum exhibitions and programs and help to digitize components of the Academy Collection – the largest film-related collection in the world, with more than 52 million items. It will be a true hub for film fans and will be accessible from around the world.

GolfPass, part of VERSANT’s Digital Platforms & Ventures portfolio, announced a major extension and evolution of its flagship partnership with global golf icon Rory McIlroy. Under the agreement, which extends through 2038, Rory McIlroy will continue to serve as the global face and partner of GolfPass, reinforcing the platform’s premium positioning and its commitment to best-in-class golf experiences. Additionally, VERSANT and Rory McIlroy will also launch “Firethorn Productions,” a new media and production label. The venture will be jointly operated by Rory’s business partners and VERSANT leadership, with a mission to produce original content and experiences that celebrate Rory’s world and the modern golf lifestyle. 

CBS Media Ventures has added three titles to their distribution slate for Fall 2026. Adam’s Law, America’s Funniest Home Videos, and American Mayhem join the lineup. Judge Judy passes the gavel to her son, Adam Levy, in Adam’s Law. AFV, hosted by Alfonso Ribeiro, returns to syndication for the first time since 2013. American Mayhem is a high energy weekend half-hour program featuring extreme videos. 

Season three of Gangs of London premieres January 15 on AMC+. Ex-undercover cop turned gangster Elliot (Dìrísù) is now operating as a top-level criminal alongside the Dumanis, but their business is thrown into chaos when their shipment of cocaine is spiked, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of civilians all over London. The ensuing chaos attracts attention from the authorities, putting the gangs of London under pressure like never before and the ripple effects – both personal and professional – will have devastating consequences for everyone from the Wallaces, to Luan, to Lale and the street gangs. This was a targeted attack and it’s only the beginning, but the question is – who did it and why? 

Ariana Grande hosts Saturday Night Live December 20 on NBC. Cher will serve as musical guest on the late night series. 

Girl Taken premieres January 8 on Paramount+. Based on the novel “Baby Doll” by Hollie Overton, the series follows the story of twin sisters Lily and Abby, whose lives are shattered when Lily is abducted from their quiet rural English town by beloved local teacher Rick Hansen. After years of abuse in captivity, Lily escapes – only to discover that freedom brings its own challenges. The world she longed to return to has moved on without her. As Abby, Lily and their mother Eve struggle to rebuild their family, they must confront the lasting damage and the terrifying reality that Rick is still out there, determined to control the narrative and evade justice. The new season of The Curious Case of… premieres January 12 on ID. The series will feature eight new episodes tackling bizarre, stranger-than-fiction cases filled with twists, turns, and shocking revelations through unprecedented first-hand accounts. Guided by legal analyst and expert Beth Karas, the season will venture even deeper into inconceivably shocking true crime stories that are filled with deception, obsession, and the unbelievable.

TLC’s My Strange Addiction returns for a new season January 7. The series explores the unfiltered stories of people whose obsessive behaviors have taken over their lives.
