The Shards premieres August 5 on FX and hulu. The series is a seductive drama from executive producer Ryan Murphy, based on the acclaimed bestselling novel by Bret Easton Ellis. Set against the vivid backdrop of 1980s Los Angeles, the series follows a group of privileged high school seniors at an elite prep school as they navigate identity, sex, jealousy, obsession and the dangers lurking beneath the surface of American adolescence.
Mousetrap premieres August 28 on Netflix. The series follows Moon-jae, a reclusive novelist who uses a pen name and hasn’t left home in years, following a solitary daily routine. Then the strange things start: his fingerprint won’t unlock his phone, his passwords stop working, and one by one, the things tying him to his own identity slip out of his grasp. Stripped of his money, his name, and any way to prove himself, Moon-jae is plunged into chaos and sets out to hunt down a mysterious figure calling himself “The Rat,” who seems to know exactly who Moon-jae is.
Rebecca Hall will officially play ‘Katherine Solomon’ in the upcoming Netflix series adaptation based on the world of “The Secret of Secrets” – the mystery thriller novel from author Dan Brown, and the sixth installment in his ‘Robert Langdon’ series. Hall joins the previously announced Morgan Spector as “Robert Langdon.” Symbologist Robert Langdon races against ancient forces and time to rescue a missing scientist and her groundbreaking manuscript whose discoveries have the power to forever change humanity’s understanding of the mind. The series adaptation (currently untitled) will blend futuristic science with mystical lore, delivering on the heart-pounding suspense and international intrigue that has made the Langdon stories a global phenomenon.
DC’s Booster Gold series is no longer in development at HBO. In the planned series, Booster Gold uses basic technology from the future to pretend to be a superhero in present day. The project was first announced in 2023.
Dermot Mulroney will exit Chicago Fire during its upcoming 15th season. Mulroney has been with the NBC series since season 13. Fellow series star Joe Miñoso was previously announced to be departing as well. The series returns October 7 on NBC.
John Oliver has signed a new one year deal with HBO. The deal will keep his series Last Week Tonight on at least through 2027. The long running series is currently in its 13th season.
ESPN Jeopardy!, hosted by Joe Buck, is now streaming on Disney+, Hulu and the ESPN App. The series features ESPN commentators and celebrity sports fans competing on the iconic Alex Trebek Stage. With clues spanning the full spectrum of sports and ESPN content, ESPN Jeopardy! will test the knowledge of even the most passionate sports fans. Contestants will represent charities of their choice in a tournament-style competition for a $500,000 grand prize and the title of ESPN Jeopardy! champion.
ESPN will carry more than 445 MLB games across its platforms in August. The month-long schedule includes seven newly selected exclusive matchups on ESPN and ABC, ESPN Unlimited MLB Games of the Day and more than 400 out-of-market MLB.TV games available through the ESPN App.
College football is less than 30 days away, but the unofficial start to the season has arrived with ESPN officially naming Shaboozey its newest anthem artist. ‘High Noon’ featuring rapper Gunna is the 2026-27 ESPN College Football season anthem song, a track that dropped at midnight ET off Shaboozey’s new concept album, The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales.” ESPN has collaborated with musical artists for the past 13 years to create an anthem that drives excitement and awareness around ESPN’s comprehensive college football coverage. Last year featured GRAMMY-nominated multi-platinum recording artist mgk and the track, ‘don’t wait run fast’ off his latest album, ‘lost in americana’. Other cover artists over the years include: Jelly Roll, Post Malone, Fall Out Boy, Lauren Alaina, X Ambassadors, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Imagine Dragons, Judah & the Lion, Juice WRLD & Marshmello, DJ Snake & Rick Ross, and Yungblud.
Moria premieres August 14 on Netflix. Moria Casán celebrates her 80th birthday and opens the doors to her own fictionalized world, acting as the puppeteer of her own story. Sofía Gala, Griselda Siciliani, and Cecilia Roth portray her at different stages of her life.
