Sheriff Country has added Noah Reid as a guest character, set to debut in its upcoming second season. Reid will potentially lead a new spinoff medical drama series set in the Fire Country/Sheriff Country universe. The series would follow a medical team in Edgewater, California. Fire Country and Sheriff Country return October 9 on CBS.
AMC has ordered a Point Break series, set in the present day, after the events of the iconic film. It is centered on a new heist crew with ties to the notorious Ex-Presidents gang. The series will premiere in 2027.
Peacock has ordered Before I Let Go to series. The series is based on the book by Kennedy Ryan.
Netflix has ordered mystery noir series Outback. The series follows Zion, who travels to Australia after receiving the tragic news of his sister’s sudden death – only to be confronted, in an unfamiliar city, with unsettling questions about how she died, and to find himself relentlessly chasing the truth. Based on the popular webtoon “G’Day,” the series builds on the original’s dark, mysterious tension while dramatically reimagining its characters, backstories, and relationships.
Toonami will begin reairing the second season of IGPX for the first time in HD September 26. The first season is currently being re-run in HD, following an initial run a few years ago. This will be the first time the second and final season will air in HD on the network. Both seasons are available in HD on DVD.
Korean Rom-Com series Take Charge of My Heart will premiere on Netflix October 9. Based on a web novel, the series follows a man whose artificial heart is running out of battery and a woman with the unique power to recharge him. Na Bo-bae’s secret confession: after being struck by lightning as a child, she developed mysterious electrical powers. With sparks flying from her hands, Bo-bae resorts to wearing gloves and being alone, rather than risk electrocuting the people around her. Enter Baek Ho-rang, a third-generation chaebol heir and executive director at one of the nation’s top resorts, whose only weakness is his artificial heart. When the two meet, they unintentionally share a kiss, and Bo-bae realizes her electricity doesn’t seem to affect Ho-rang. For the first time ever, she thinks she has encountered her fated “human rubber glove” and tries to talk to him, but Ho-rang runs away. The two meet again at the hospital, where Ho-rang receives the final surgery to change his artificial heart’s battery to a high-power one. However, when the surgery is disrupted by a blackout due to a storm, Ho-rang’s new battery runs low, recharging only when Bo-bae is near him. Ho-rang needs her to keep his heart going for three months until he can receive another surgery, especially so he can take over TS Group. Meanwhile, Bo-bae has three months until her writer contract is up, facing the predicament of having to write a good romance by then, even though she has never been able to date anyone due to her electric touch. And so Ho-rang offers Bo-bae a deal she can’t refuse: charge him through touch, in exchange for him fulfilling her “romance bucket list”.
Ovation TV will air the U.S. premiere of Murdoch Mysteries season 20 on October 5. NBC and the Television Academy have announced special performances and creative elements for the 78th Emmy Awards, airing live on Monday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from the Peacock Theater on NBC and Peacock. The In Memoriam segment will feature two-time Grammy Award-nominated and multi-platinum selling artist Noah Kahan performing “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” The broadcast will feature celebrations of the milestone 30th anniversary of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” with David Boreanaz and Sarah Michelle Gellar, and the 50th anniversary of “Charlie’s Angels” with Kate Jackson, Cheryl Ladd and Jaclyn Smith.
