Debuts, returns and short-term roles. Like sands through the hourglass, this is the casting of “Days of Our Lives.”
With big time industry vets Crystal Chappell (Olivia, Guiding Light) and Wally Kurth (ex-Ned, General Hospital) returning to Days of Our Lives as Carly Manning and Justin Kiriakis this fall, the DAYS casting department has been in overdrive. It looks like Carly & Justin won’t be the only ones popping up in Salem in the coming months though…
Talk about type casting! Catherine Wadkins portray a crazed widow on August 3 and August 4. According to Soap Opera Digest, she shows up after her character’s husband Cole turns up dead and will share scenes with Jay Kenneth Johnson (Philip). Soap fans might remember Catherine Wadkins from her run as crazy widow-turned-serial killer Mary Bishop ABC’s General Hospital back in 2004.
Ross Matthews, who has appeared regularly as Kate’s assistant, Chris will return on June 23rd.
David Leisure will portray Salem’s new district attorney. Leisure recently came off a short-term stint on The Young and the Restless where he played Roger. No first airdate was given.
Soap Opera Digest says John Callahan (ex-Edmund, All My Children) will return as the nefarious Dr. Baker sometime in the near future. Will the not so good doc spill Nicole’s secret?
As previously reported Rachel Kimsey (ex-Mac, Y&R) will appear as Meredith, a woman from Rafe’s (Galen Gering) past, starting July 17th and Nick Stabile (Passions; Sunset Beach) will first air on June 25th.
The actor playing Chad, Mia’s ex, is Casey Deidrick. Oh, and those other teens you see popping up in Will & Mia’s storyline? That is Brandon Coughlin as Tad and Shelby Young playing Kinsey.
And if the hunk playing Maggie’s grandson Nathan looks familiar to you, there’s a good reason. Mark Hapka played a teenaged Johnny in a dream back in 2008. The actor stated in an interview he was originally cast as Will, but the show realized he was a little too old for character, but called him back for this role.
