John and Marlena, Austin & Carrie Return To Salem!
It’s official! John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall) will be back this fall! Days of Our Lives executive producer Ken Corday spoke to Soap Opera Digest about their return: “We are thrilled that Deidre and Drake are rejoining the show. I know their return will excite loyal fans and intrigue new viewers. We are gearing up for some amazing cast surprises and guest stars visiting Salem in the fall, launching a grand event airing on September 26th.”
On July 8, Hall teased on Twitter, “I just taped a segment for the TV Guide channel. It airs Sunday at 7PM. We can really talk after that.” During last night’s Hollywood 411 segment, host Audrey Cleo confirmed Hall’s return. “It’s not the same show that I left. This is a brand new show one and what I’m excited to share with the audience is, it’s a brand new Days of Our Lives,” said Hall during the segment. “We are turning back the clock, to the days when you used to love the show.” The actress tweeted today that she begins taping on Wednesday.
In addition, perennial fan favorites Austin (original recipe) and Carrie are set to return to Salem in September. Christie Clark and Patrick Muldoon begin taping this week. Clark returned briefly in 2010 for Alice Horton’s funeral, and made a cameo in early 2011 on a phone call with Alison Sweeney’s Sami. Though Muldoon originated the role of Austin Reed in 1992, he hasn’t appeared on DAYS since he left in 1995.
