After months of agony, spent processing the roller coaster ride that was season five, The Good Wife will return to our lives on Sunday, Sept. 21 with its sixth season premiere. Confident that I speak for all of the show’s fans when I say we are all waiting with open arms to welcome our favorite legal eagles back home, let’s take a look at what we should expect in the first episode of the season.
The premiere episode, “The Line,” picks up right where season five’s finale ended: in Alicia Florrick’s messy dining room, where Eli continues his attempt to convince her to run for State’s Attorney. As much as I am anticipating the start of the new season, nothing tops my eagerness to see Eli helping Alicia with the dishes. So, will Alicia give in to Eli and start a campaign? If she does, will Peter support her decision? Let’s remember that he’s not even aware that Eli is trying to persuade her to run in the first place. Knowing Gov. Florrick, he will not take this well. Also, what will this mean for her firm if she decides to run?
Speaking of Florrick/Agos, when we last saw them, Alicia and Cary were partners at war with each other. If they end up back on good terms, I can only imagine that if she decides to run, her decision will not sit well with her partner. While we are on the topic of decisions, let’s not forget that Diane offered herself and her $38 million a year in client billing, to them in the finale. Without having to think about it, we know that while Alicia is definitely for it, Cary is wholeheartedly against it. What will the final decision be? If they decide to take Diane on as a partner, it goes without saying that with a heavy heart we will say goodbye to the offices of LG and the Gardner name. Or will we? So much is unknown.
As a viewer, I will admit to my own conflicting feelings on…well, everything. However, I am more than ready to embark on this new leg of the journey in the evolution of Alicia Florrick. In the end, kids, that’s what it’s all about. So, be sure to restock your wine so that you are ready to join me with a glass of your favorite as we celebrate the start of season six. Until then, check out the photos from the premiere episode and hit that comment box to let me know what you’re looking forward to most!
