Soap veteran and Daytime Emmy winner Tamara Braun is returning to ABC’s General Hospital — but not in the role she played from 2001-2005.
As first reported by Daytime Confidential in September, now confirmed by Entertainment Weekly, Braun will be playing a brand new, unnamed character. Her first airdate is set for November 22.
Tamara Braun burst into the soap scene in 2001, assuming the role of Carly Corinthos from Sarah Brown (who later returned as Claudia from 2008-2009). Braun’s dynamic performance and electric chemistry with leading men Maurice Bernard (Sonny), Steve Burton (then-Jason) and later Ted King (ex-Alcazar) earned her the love and adoration of fans. Her exit in the spring of 2005 was felt in more ways than one, with fans souring on the panned recast that immediately followed.
GH execs quickly changed course, firing her replacement and writing off the character for a few months. Guiding Light star Laura Wright took over the role in November 2005, and the rest as they say, is history.
Braun’s soap career continued. She landed a ninth month gig on NBC’s Days of our Lives as venomous, mentally unstable mob princess Ava Vitali, for which she won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress. She later joined All My Children for a short-run as Reese Williams, taking part in the soaps’ historic lesbian wedding featuring her character and Eden Riegel’s Bianca Montgomery. In 2011 she returned to Days of our Lives, but not as Ava, replacing former GH co-star Natalia Livingston as Taylor Walker, and exiting the series later that year. She resumed the role of Ava for a three-month arc from December 2015-March 2016, ending with her character’s murder after a seduction gone wrong.
As for Tamara’s new role on GH, rumor has it she’ll be connected to the recently returned Steve Burton’s Patient 6.

I would rather see more of Valerie or Lucy and Monica then the new character she will be playing.
