Dominic Zamprogna took the soap scene by storm when he debuted in the summer of 2009. Created by former Emmy winning head writer Bob Guza, Jr., Dante Falconer was introduced as Dominic Pirelli, an up-and-comer in the Corinthos organization who wins favor with mob boss Sonny Corinthos when he saves his life. Fans soon learned he was actually an undercover cop infiltrating the criminal enterprise to bring down one of the most notorious crime families! Dante was later revealed to be Sonny Corinthos’ son, but not before Sonny shot him in the chest at point blank range! Dante would go on to have a good relationship with his father, even though they often found themselves on opposite sides of the law.
Through all of this, Dante went on to form a supercouple with Lulu Spencer, the daughter of the original supercouple, Luke and Laura. Dante and Lulu would have their ups and downs over the years, but even the exit of Emmy winner Julie Marie Berman wouldn’t stop the couple’s popularity, which continues today with Emme Rylan in the role.
Dominic Zamprogna earned two Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor for his work on General Hospital in 2014 and 2016. Stay tuned for an upcoming issue of Soap Opera Digest which will feature an exclusive interview with the actor.
No final airdate has been given at press time.
Our Take: I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Dominic Zamprogna on numerous occasions at various fan and press events over the years, and he’s one of the funniest, kindest people you’ll ever meet. I don’t have much to say right now that I haven’t said on Twitter before. Dominic has been criminally underutilized over the years and I’m saddened to see him go. I look forward to what he does next, whether it’s another soap opera, a primetime series or a film. Dom Zamprogna is good people, and GH is losing a great talent.
