ABC is giving General Hospital fans a Christmas miracle! Soap legend Jane Elliot will return for the holidays as Tracy Quartermaine reports Entertainment Weekly.
EW says Tracy will ” pops back into town for the holiday season and, naturally, gets mixed up again in ELQ, the family business.”
The actress retired from the series after 39 years in May 2017. Her character left town and relocated to Amsterdam, a place her former flame Luke Spencer (Tony Geary) frequents.
Elliot originated the role of Tracy Angelica Quartermaine in 1978, appearing intermittently for short-stints until 2003, when she returned full-time. Tracy, the youngest daughter of Edward and Lila Quartermaine, frequently found herself at odds with her family due to her greed, scheming, penchant for blackmail, thirst for power and snobbery.
Jane Elliot’s return is the latest in a series of fan favorites making their way back to Port Charles. Since new head writers Dan O’Connor and Chris Van Etten took over creative, legacy characters such as Nikolas Cassadine (now played by Marcus Coloma) and Brook Lynn Ashton Quartermaine (now played by Amanda Setton) have returned to the series.
TV Source Magazine has reached out to GH publicity for comment on the length of the beloved actress’ stay.
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Episodes are available on ABC.com and Hulu.
