Former All My Children star John Callahan has died at the age of 66 after suffering a massive stroke.

Paramedics were called to the Palm Desert, CA home of the daytime star on March 27. He was taken to the Eisenhower Mesical Center in Rancho Mirage, CA and placed on life support. His ex-wife Eva LaRue (ex-Maria, AMC) and daughter Kaya were immediately notified and rushed to his side from Los Angeles.

In a statement, LaRue said, “We are extremely saddened and distraught over the loss of John.  He was my great friend, co-parent and an amazing father to Kaya. The absence of his bigger than life, gregarious personality will leave a hole in our hearts forever. Words cannot express the shock and devastation we are feeling at this time. The Yankees just lost one of their greatest fans.”

John Callahan is best known for his role as All My Children’s hunky Edmund Grey from 1992-2005. It was there where he fell in love with co-star Eva LaRue, and the pair would wed in 1996. Callahan previously starred in Santa Barbara, Falcon Crest and Days of our Lives.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Callahan’s family during this difficult time.
