ABC has ordered three new series for the upcoming TV season. They include two dramas and one comedy.

Alaska (formerly Alaska Daily News) stars Hilary Swank as a disgraced reporter who leaves her high-profile New York life behind to join a daily metro newspaper in Anchorage on a journey to find both personal and professional redemption.

The Rookie spinoff series The Rookie: Feds stars Niecy Nash as the oldest rookie at the FBI, similar to the original series premise of the oldest rookie cop in the LAPD.

Comedy series Not Dead Yet stars Gina Rodriguez and is based on the book “Confessions of a 40-something F**k Up” by Alexandra Potter. It follows a broke and newly single self-described disaster, working to restart the life and career she left behind 10 years ago. When she lands the only job she can find, writing obituaries, she starts getting life advice from an unlikely source.

ABC officially passed on its L.A. Law sequel pilot along with comedy Josep. ABC may redevelop Josep at a later point. Pilots The Son-in-Law, The Company You Keep, Will Trent, Untitled Kay Oyegun, and Untitled National Parks remain in contention for midseason.

The pick ups are in addition to the straight to series order from earlier this year for Avalon, a mystery drama from David E. Kelley, which is expected to premiere at midseason.
