CBS is set to sizzle this summer with a lineup of returning favorites and fresh reality series. The network’s schedule is set to kick off with the return of “Secret Celebrity Renovation” on Friday, July 28 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT), followed by the highly anticipated 25th season premiere of “Big Brother” on Wednesday, August 2 (8:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT).
“Superfan,” the musical game show, has been rescheduled to debut on Wednesday, August 9 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT), and “The Challenge: USA” will start its new season on Thursday, August 10 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT). All series will also be available for live streaming and on-demand viewing on Paramount+.
The summer schedule promises a double reality treat with “Big Brother” leading into “Superfan” on Wednesday nights and then partnering with “The Challenge: USA” on Thursdays and the final three Sundays in August.
On August 2, in a special 90-minute episode, “Big Brother” will premiere its landmark 25th season as a new group of houseguests moves into the Big Brother house. Viewers should brace for a summer of surprises, twists, turns, and throwbacks to the previous 24 seasons. After the premiere, the series will air on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, featuring live eviction episodes. Last summer, viewers logged over 12.3 billion minutes of “Big Brother” on the Network, Paramount+ and CBS.com/the CBS app. This reality staple saw an increase of 17% in streaming viewership in 2022 compared to 2021. Julie Chen Moonves will return as host, and Paramount+ subscribers can continue to follow the action on the Big Brother Live Feeds.
On August 9, the new musical game show “Superfan” with hosts Nate Burleson and Keltie Knight will have contestants compete in multiple rounds of play to prove they are their favorite artist’s top fan. Each episode will feature a music superstar crowning their biggest fan. This season’s lineup includes celebrities such as Kelsea Ballerini, Gloria Estefan, Little Big Town, LL COOL J, Pitbull, and Shania Twain.
On August 10, MTV’s hit reality global franchise “The Challenge: USA” returns to CBS for its second season, airing two episodes a week for its first three weeks on Thursdays and Sundays. Starting Thursday, August 31, the show will air only on Thursdays through its season finale. Fan favorites from CBS’s reality shows, including “Survivor,” “Big Brother,” and “The Amazing Race,” will compete in one of the most unpredictable and demanding games of their lives alongside some of The Challenge’s biggest reality stars. In its summer 2022 debut, “The Challenge: USA” increased its time slot by 27% from the previous year and was CBS’s #2 summer series, following “Big Brother”. T.J. Lavin will return as host.
On July 28, “Secret Celebrity Renovation” returns to Friday nights. Hosted by Nischelle Turner, the series allows celebrities to express their gratitude to someone in their hometowns through a surprise renovation. This season’s featured celebrities include NFL player Damar Hamlin, Phil Keoghan from “The Amazing Race”, actor and comedian JB Smoove, and Max Thieriot from “Fire Country”. Home improvement contractor and TV personality Rob “Boston Rob” Mariano from “Survivor” and interior designer Sabrina Soto return to the design team.
CBS will announce further details about the forthcoming seasons of “Secret Celebrity Renovation,” “Big Brother,” and “The Challenge: USA” in due course.
