In a rather shocking move, Days of our Lives have decided to write out fan favorite Peter Reckell (Bo Brady) out of storylines for about a month. This temporary action is a result of the way the actor’s contract is set up. "He was in danger of going over his guarantee and they didn’t want to pay him more," said a setsider to Soap Opera Digest.
Taking into account the shows massive budget cut from a few years ago and the firings of major stars like Deidre Hall (Marlena) and Drake Hogestyn (John) last year, it’s safe to assume the remaining stars took a pay cut. In recent months, Reckell has re-assumed to the role of "leading man" with as Bo is caught between wife Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and ex-fiancee (and current girlfriend) Carly (Crystal Chappell) all while dealing with his crazy family. His increase in episodes combined with the cut would explain as to why he is so close to the guarantee.
Bo’s time away from Salem will be explained as he is going to visit Family. Might that family be Chelsea? While it will be hard to envision him off the canvas for such a lengthy amount of time, DAYS is rather far ahead in taping so it might not seem like such a void.
