THIS WEEK IN SPOILERS

EastEnders:  Johnny tries to cheer up his dad.

Emmerdale:   Robert and Aaron are back in town, but their problems haven’t gone away.  Ross immediately starts to blackmail Robert about his affair with Rebecca.  Robert asks Rebecca to talk to Ross to get him off his back, but it only makes Ross angry to see Rebecca sticking up for Robert.  The blackmail pressure gets worse.  When Robert and Aaron move into their new house, Robert tries to get romantic with Aaron, but it only makes him feel more guilty.  Unable to keep his secret, Robert tells Aaron about his cheating with Rebecca and that she’s expecting a baby.  Aaron has to decide if he can forgive Robert for his transgression.

Meanwhile, Rebecca decides to keep the baby.

Holby City:   Lofty is forced to face his past when a patient named Lenny is admitted to the hospital.  Things are frosty between Lenny and Lofty.  Eventually Lenny tells Dom and Sacha that Lofty was supposed to marry his sister Alicia, but he left her at the altar.  But another twist to the story is revealed when Lenny and Lofty have a moment alone and share a passionate kiss.  When Alicia arrives at the hospital, will Lofty confess as to why he really broke it off with her?

Hollyoaks:   Ste tells Harry and Tony he thinks Ryan murdered Amy.  Off to investigate, Harry gets ahold of the CCTV tape at the Loft, where Ryan claims he was drinking.  However, the footage of that night is missing.

Elsewhere, Darren finds out Kyle is living in his car after losing his stash of weed.  After Kyle admits he’s gay, Darren feels sorry for him and invites Kyle to move in with he and Nancy.  Nancy is not happy about it.

Neighbours:    David is excited about moving forward with Will, but quickly learns that Will has other ideas about a relationship between them, thanks to Aaron warning Will off of him.   But how will David react to Aaron’s interfering in his relationship with Will?  Meanwhile, Aaron’s old boyfriend Tom Quill comes back into Aaron’s life.  Why is Tom back?  Can Aaron and Tom work things out this time?

River City:  As his back pain worsens, Robbie relies more on drugs to deal with the pain.  He connects with shady Stevie, who’ll get the drugs Robbie needs, but for a price.  But is it a price Robbie is willing to pay?

Rownd a Rownd:    Dani gets her brace off, meaning that David will finally tell her he’s gay so he can be with Rhys.  Meanwhile, Wyn decides to throw a party to celebrate Dani’s good health.  And at the party, Dani asks a stunned David to marry her.  Feeling trapped, David agrees and he and Dani are engaged.  As Dani begins to make wedding plans, the stress begins to get to David.  Jac and Lowri discuss the mess between Dani and David, unaware that Sophie overhears the discussion. Sophie, of course, races to tell Dani that her fiance is queer.

I watch a lot of television, probably too much. But can you really watch too much TV? I've yet to find out. Anyway, I especially love TV when they give us positive portrayals of gays, something that has gotten better but we're still fighting for. I've written about gays in television for many years first at the much missed After Elton, then New Now Next and now at TV Source. It's kind of a passion of mine and I look forward to sharing it with you.

  1. I thought that I recognized Lofty’s fiance’s brother. It’s Dr. Bailey.

  2. Re: Corrie. I did like Audrey bringing up the baby Todd and Sarah lost (ironically also named Billy) during that conversation with the vicar. I think the story could be interesting if they keep playing that string of it, especially because I think this girl is around the same age that Billy would be now.

It’s pretty early into their relationship to throw a kid into it, but there are some difference about it I appreciate. No last gasp of straightness ONS responsible, for example, like with Kyle/Fish, Will/Sonny, etc. And the child being that age probably means they’re throw her in with Simon and Amy Barlow, which could get them bigger story.

  3. I really don’t think the Coldplay tickets subplot is going to go anywhere since the David and Rhys storyline is about to go critical mass this Thursday and beyond. I really can’t wait for tomorrow’s and Tuesday’s episodes. Yesterday’s episode was so good. Every time that he was working up the nerve to tell her, he just kept getting steamrolled by Wyn, by Dani, by Michelle. And now things are totally out of hand.

  4. I know you’ve said your not going to say anything about Days of Our Lives until the new writers start, but one of the most disgusting things that has NOT happened are all of the missed opportunities that Paul & Sonny have had to at least hug or a little kiss when parting. all of the straight characters have done it over and over. these writers are coming across as homophobic to say the least…
