Law & Order: SVU star Ice-T will be back for another two seasons of the hit NBC series. The star signed a new two-year deal with the show, reports TVLine.com.
“I’ve just locked in my new SVU deal,” tweeted the rapper-turned-actor. “So I’ll officially be back for the next two years at least. DONE.” He also added that no other members have re-upped with the show.
Last month, co-star Mariska Hargitay re-signed with the series, but only for thirteen episodes. Fans of the show were disappointed to learn that Hargitay’s on-screen partner Chris Meloni would not be returning next season. The actor confirmed his departure after contract talks with NBC broke down.
Before coming onto the acting scene, Ice-T became involved with the music industry and established Rhyme Syndicate Records in 1989. He has released a string of rap albums since then and has become a leader and an influential part of today’s youth, regardless of color. He is a Grammy Award winner, and was named Best Male Rapper by Rolling Stone magazine in 1992. Ice-T’s voice can be heard as Griffin in Gears of War 3, which is to be released in 2011.
Currently Ice-T and his wife, Coco are stars of their own reality series, Ice Loves Coco on the A&E network.
