Vampire Diaries: Top 5 OMFG Moments from "Heart of Darkness"

4

A lot of important things happened tonight. Tyler, Jeremy, Mama Original, and KillerRic all came back and Stefan beat Alaric to a pulp while Elena dealt with her feelings for Damon in a major way. Like whoa. There’s really no better way to sum it up so let’s just jump right into this week’s list.

5. Kol is a badass with a baseball bat.

Jeremy hotly blows Damon and Elena off upon their arrival to Colorado because he needs to hang out with a friend. Low and behold this friend is yet another original, Kol, who proceeds to beat Damon with a baseball bat. Quick on his feet, Damon stakes Kol, but doesn’t kill him because that would risk killing himself and the three escape.

When rose sends the threesome to Kansasto find Mary Porter, they discover Mary’s been taken care of by Kol. His goal is to keep Damon from ever tracing his sire line and therefore keeping all the originals alive. Yet again, Kol beats the crap out of Damon with a baseball bat and even throws Elena around a little bit (which maybe explains her sudden need to take back that oh so amazing moment that will be talked about in a bit). He is seriously a badass. Let’s keep this guy around, please.

4. Ghost Rose!

I really, really adored Rose. Her death left me a little wrecked. In fact, that last scene in the field with Damon, which tonight we found out was a dream he gave her before dying, is one of my favorites ever on this show.

Damon asks Jeremy to contact Rose’s ghost to help chase their sire line. Rose appears and comments that Damon is still sexy and she’s rooting for Damon and Elena. I knew I liked her for a reason. She also tells them that she wasn’t turned by Klaus, but by Mary Porter, who’s off inKansas.

Rose later gave a little advice to Jeremy in regards to his mixed feelings about Damon and Elena, explaining what the two bring to each other. Damon challenges Elena and surprises her and makes her question life. Elena makes Damon a better person. Stefan is different. His love is pure and he’ll always be good for while Damon is the best or worst thing for her. And those are the same reason that Delena fans ship these two together. Sigh.

3. Tyler Plus Caroline… Plus Klaus.

With Matt’s help, Caroline leaves Mystic Falls and visitsTyler. They see each other. They smile. They share a greeting. And then they kiss and go at in a cave like bunnies. Life is good again. Or rather was until Caroline admitted the sire line discovery and how Damon didn’t care about Tyler’s life being on the line. Way to put a damper on the post-coital cuddles, C.

Tyler decides he’s coming back to Mystic Falls and heads home with Caroline, who is so adorably giddy that her hybrid boyfriend is back and appears to be normal. Except then Tyler sports the sketch from Klaus and things get awkward. She insists nothing happened, which is kind of a lie since she almost died, Klaus saved her, and he’s been buying her diamonds and following her all over town in the cutest way an original knows how. And as Tyler pointed out, she kept the sketch this whole time. That has to mean something, right? He sure thinks so and leaves Caroline all by herself. The paranormal Romeo and Juliet’s happiness is shortened as per usual.

2. Mama Original is in Rebekah’s Body

In what was one of the first twists I’ve ever called on this show, Mama Original has transferred herself into Rebekah’s body. Rebekah came home from school to find her mother standing in the living room. Esther explains that she’s dying because she was drawing power from the Bennett witch line and that power was severed when Abby died. What is any logical person to do? Steal their daughter’s body, of course. Did anyone else feel sorry for Rebekah when she uttered that she hadn’t lived at all?

Even worse is that Mama Original is teaming up with KillerRic. After Stefan beat the whereabouts of missing stake out of Alaric, KillerRic admitted it was hidden in the cave. Rebekah and KillerRic go the caves where she reveals she’s actually Esther and together they can kill all the original vampires – major uh, oh.

1. The Third Kiss Heard ‘Round the World

This is the best thing to have ever happened at 8:30 on a Thursday night in like ever. I have so many feelings. While the other two kisses between Damon and Elena have been great, nothing came close to what happened tonight. Magic, people. The kind that only an ultimate pairing can have. The kind that sends the entire fanbase into a frenzy.

While in the hotel room, Elena watches Damon from the bed where he thinks she’s sleeping. He looks thoughtful, worried, and not as confident as usual. They lock eyes and Damon moves across the room and lays down beside her. She asks him about Rose and he says it’s not her business. Elena questions him about how inability to let people see the good, but Damon says that’s because then they will always expect that. She rolls onto her back and their hands slide over one another. Elena can’t breathe. I can’t breathe. The entire world is beginning to hyperventilate. It’s slow, tender, vulnerable, and sweet – too much for Elena who flees from the bed.

Damon follows her out of the hotel room. She stops when he says her name. The world stills and she turns and runs into his arms. And just like that, the collective Delena fanbase collapses in their seats, shaking and crying, as Damon backs her up against a pillar and they go at it in the sexiest, vertical way possible. I still can’t think straight. It was beautiful, romantic, took my breath away and spawned more feelings than I could have been prepared for. The only thing that would have made it better was Jeremy not interrupting it – worst timing ever. I’m so Delena drunk right now that I never want to sober up. In fact, I’m not even going to talk about Elena’s sudden post hot makeout confusion because I want to stay in this happy, blissful bubble for days to come.

With only three more episodes left in the season, one can only imagine what the fallout of this moment as well as everything else will be. Did that Delena kiss make you swoon as much as me? Any speculations on what’s to come? I, for one, can’t wait!
