Days of our Lives star James Scott (EJ) says he always finds the Emmy Awards to be exciting. “I am not nominated so I actually get to sit back and enjoy it a little bit more. It is nice to be here to support the cast and crew.”
Now that EJ’s fiancée Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) has landed herself in jail for murder, we asked Scott if he could share what might be coming up for the popular “EJami” pairing. “All I can tell you is that EJ will turn over every stone and do everything he can to get her out of jail. He may not always use the best judgment and sometimes he will get his hands dirty if the ends justify the means.”
EJ’s done a lot of nefarious things over the years (especially to Sami), but Scott enjoys playing the various facets of the EJ character when given the chance. “My only concern is they only have me play one side at a time,” he said laughing. “I wish they wrote the character to show all sides, at all times. I think over the last year they have gotten a lot closer to the essence of the character which has been really encouraging to me.”
Days of our Lives had a lot to celebrate this year. Not only was it nominated (and would go on to win) the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, but the show recently hit a two year ratings high and the actor had a lot to say about that. “You can thank Gary Tomlin and Chris Whitesell, who are wonderful head writers along with executive producer Lisa de Cazotte. They have been working with the network; so between all of them, they’ve crafted really compelling storylines and they have been able change direction of the show. It has been really well received by the fans.”
