Nominations for the 65th annual Primetime Emmy Awards have been announced, with American Horror Story, Game of Thrones and Behind the Candelabra leading the pack with the most nominations.

Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul and How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris announced 12 of the nominations in North Hollywood before the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences released the complete list of nominations.

One of the big stories coming out of the nominations is Kerry Washington’s historic nomination. The Scandal star is only the fifth African-American actress to be nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and the first in 18 years.

Netflix’s House of Cards also made history. The Kevin Spacey-fronted drama is the first series to receive top nominations for an online program, having never aired on broadcast networks or cable. “The fact that there’s been so much talk about whether the series would break through, would the Academy be able to recognize a series being discovered in such a new way, the fact that we not only did that but that we got nine nominations is an incredible acknowledgement of the work we’ve done,” said Kevin Spacey to Variety.
