The final season of Survival of the Thickest premieres July 2 on Netflix. The series centers on Mavis Beaumont (Michelle Buteau). Black, plus-size, and falling in love while loving herself, Mavis works hard to grow her brand as a stylist and designer. She’s determined to not only survive but thrive with the support of her chosen family, a body-positive attitude, and a cute v-neck with some lip gloss. The scripted comedy is inspired by Buteau’s acclaimed book of essays.

Drama series The Westies premieres July 12 on MGM+. The series is a gritty and kinetic crime drama centering on New York City’s infamously violent Irish gang of the same name. The series is set in the early 1980s when the construction of the Jacob Javits Convention Center on the Westies’ home turf in Hell’s Kitchen promises a financial windfall. Despite being outnumbered fifty-to-one by the Five Families of the Italian Mafia, the Westies’ legendary brutality and cunning have given them the leverage necessary to share the spoils through a fragile détente. But internal conflict between the brash younger generation and the old-school leadership threatens to set a match to this powder keg, which will sweep the Westies into the FBI’s ever-deepening investigation into the Italian mafia.

Netflix has canceled The Boroughs after one season. In a seemingly perfect retirement community, a grieving newcomer’s monstrous encounter inspires him to join a misfit crew of unlikely heroes who uncover a dark secret that proves their “golden years” are more dangerous, and they are more formidable, than anyone expects.

The fourth and final season of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder will premiere July 29 on Disney+. Season four finds the Proud family at a life-changing turning point. Penny Proud is pulled into a series of unexpected adventures that test her courage and identity. With more action-packed, mind-bending and heartfelt twists than ever before, the Prouds face every new challenge head-on, proving that no matter how chaotic life gets, they’re strongest when they face it together. Guest stars for the new season include Mariah Carey, Chloe Bailey, Lorraine Toussaint, Dee Nasty, Adele Givens, Ali Wong and Lashana Lynch. In addition, an all-new stop-motion holiday special, “A Proud Family Wizmas,” will debut later this year on Disney+.

Season two of Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross will premiere July 20 on The Roku Channel. Tracee Ellis Ross is an award-winning actress, producer, founder of PATTERN Beauty, and fashion icon. And she’s back, packing her bags and inviting audiences to join her solo trips to Australia, Thailand, and Switzerland to experience the joy of solo travel. “This is me enjoying my own company while I immerse, unplug, and indulge out in the world.”

Guillermo Rodriguez has joined the cast of Dancing with the Stars for the upcoming 35th season. He is known for his role on Jimmy Kimmel Live and joins Maura Higgins, Ciara Miller and Jackson Olson. The ABC series will premiere in the fall and also stream on Disney+.

Starz has acquired Tip Toe, a darkly witty yet harrowing and explosive thriller from Russell T Davies that explores the most corrosive forces facing the LGBTQ+ community today. Starring Alan Cumming and David Morrissey as warring neighbors, the five-part series will premiere exclusively on Starz later this year. Leo (Cumming) and Clive (Morrissey) have lived next door to each other in Manchester for almost 15 years. Leo runs Spit & Polish, a bar on Canal Street and Clive is an electrician with two teenage sons. But just as life should be settling down for both, the world around them is growing more tense. Words become weapons, opinions become radicalized and gradually the two neighbors become deadly enemies in a tense, thrilling drama that spotlights the prejudices that have started to creep back into our lives, in a story that speaks not just to the queer community, but to the world at large.
