Genoa City’s favorite daughter is moving back into town! Longtime fan favorite Eileen Davidson has signed a contract to return to CBS’ The Young and the Restless to reprise her role as Ashley Abbott this fall!
Soap Opera Digest, who broke the news exclusively, reports the actress will begin airing in early September. “They have been reaching out for quite a while and wondering what I wanted, so the deal we made suits my life very well,” said Davidson. “I’m really happy. I’ve put in a lot of years in this medium, which I don’t take for granted, so I’m very grateful.”
Eileen Davidson has pulled double duty on the Sony soap operas since returning to Days of our Lives as Kristen DiMera in 2012. She guest starred intermittently The Young and the Restless, returning for the 40th anniversary celebration and Katherine Chancellor’s funeral. The actress shocked DAYS fans when she announced her exit from the soap last summer, citing a need for a break. She returned to Y&R periodically in the months after, most recently for the engagement of Ashley’s daughter Abby.
In January, Davidson signed a deal to return to Days of our Lives this summer for what we now know is a 12-week story arc. She will simultaneously air on DAYS and Y&R.
