This week in Gays of Our Lives, Lari and Elias finally look to be headed towards a reunion. But will it be so easy? Find out on Secret Lives. Meanwhile, on People of the Valley, Iolo struggles to deal with the gay bashing as his OCD dramatically flares up. Will Iolo’s trauma make Tyler realize his feelings for his roommate? Also, there’s big happenings on Hollyoaks when Ste’s life is in danger and someone finds out that Ms. St. Claire is John Paul’s transgendered bio-daddy. Plus, Paul is the center of an medical epidemic storyline on Days of Our Lives, but is it bad taste to have a gay man as Patient Zero? All this — and so much more.
PICKS AND PANS
Why do I get the feeling this storyline is going to end with Pat dead and the Grimshaw family the major suspects? And with Ryan Thomas leaving the show? Hmmm..
I do hope Todd is the one who finally busts Pat. I like Todd putting his scheming to good use. He needs a boyfriend though. And not Billy, please! Those scenes of Todd and Billy together seem awfully convenient with Billy and Sean bickering. I don’t like Billy and Sean together, but I don’t want Todd stealing another boyfriend of Sean’s.
But I don’t blame Sean for being angry at Billy. To his credit, Sean has been understanding about Billy’s devotion to is parishioners, even if Sean made it clear he doesn’t believe in God himself.
I’m very interested in what Billy is hiding. I’m hoping it turns out to be juicy.
Has Christopher Sean been working out? I swear he’s buffer than I’ve ever seen him. Probably has to bulk up for his nighttime recurring gig on Hawaii Five-O, I guess.
Anyway, it’s nice to see Paul and I love he and John’s bond. They really do work as father and son. But Marlena was quite a drag when John was being so happy about he and Paul’s MLB tour (and who wouldn’t be) only for her to whine about her son Eric being in jail.
Marlena can be such a bitch sometimes, but she’s usually not so selfish and self-absorbed. I did like how Paul quickly excused himself when Marlena went on her poor me rant.
I see this is the start of the medical epidemic storyline. When I first heard about this story, I was afraid the show would finally kill off their final gay, but thankfully we know that CS is still taping and will be getting a lot more airtime with the new writers.
The show’s gay asian head writer will actually be writing for the sole gay asian character. Interesting, huh? It’ll be nice to see Paul regularly on screen again. Let’s just hope the writing for him is good. That’s a lot to ask given the last year on this show.
Ben and Paul’s date was really sweet. I think that might be the first (and only) time we’ve ever seen them just being a regular couple doing what couples do. It was nice for a change and the guys deserve it. I’m especially liking Ben being at ease and comfortable about being gay. It’s been a long time coming.
I loved Jane and Kathy grinning like shippers while they watched Ben and Paul on their date. I’m all about the drama and I know there’s plenty ahead, but I liked this a lot. And the boys looked adorable in their suits.
Why would Chrissie and Lawerence leave Bernice, who runs a beauty shop in charge of their corporation? I know it was to get Robert back in the business, but the way it happened was very contrived.
Charity is not my favorite character, but I like her and Robert scheming together. I could see them slipping into an affair, but the Robert/Aaron fangirls would lose their sh*t if that happened. I’m very glad Robert is back in the business world. I prefer this ruthless side of him. Him being in Aaron’s shadow is boring and diminishes the character.
I hate this Aaron as surrogate dad story. I really hate it. I just shook my head at those scenes of Aaron stumbling and bumbling he dealt with Liv having her first period. This is such a wrongheaded story choice for Aaron. And I especially don’t like that given their history, Liv is the primary conflict between Aaron and Robert. I think I’m going to be fast forwarding those scenes from here on out.
Ugh. Ross is reminding me why I stopped liking him. He whines about what Pete did to him, but forgets that he started the whole thing by having an affair with Pete’s wife. Pete is right when he says Ross makes everything about himself. And of course Ross wants Finn and the family to make a choice between him and Pete. For Ross, that’s what it’s always been about, who the family loved most.
You could see the wheels turning in Emma’s head as she thought of the dumb plan to keep Finn and Pete from leaving town. Of course they’ll believe her, even though she’s insane and a liar.
Nope. Not buying it. Ronnie is not Chrissie’s bio-dad. He’s Lawrence’s ex lover. Nowhere in those scenes between Lawrence and Ronnie was the possibility of him being Chrissie’s dad ever even mentioned. They acted more like ex-lovers angry and bitter over an affair than what the show wants us to believe. Lawrence’s reaction when he thought Bernice knew the real truth said everything. I’m glad. The show, and Lawrence, needs to deal with his sexuality.

Ugh…taking a break from Emmerdale until Aaron’s storyline moves away from being Liv’s guardian. It’s more likely that Aaron would just agree to visit Liv often instead of becoming fully responsible for her and taking on a sudden and enormous financial strain like having a child. Also, why does Aaaron only eat toast? He’s only ever eating toast.
Finn’s family drama isn’t interesting enough to keep tuning in. And since Finn is in his early 20’s, isn’t it highly likely that he’d at least be hooking up once in a while? If they don’t want to give him a boyfriend, they could at least show him interacting with other gay men as friends or, ideally, more than friends.
Lawrence seems to go back and forth between telling Chrissie he’s okay with her search for her bio father, and then exploding with anger about it. He’s being an as*hole to her and she takes it because she’s dependent on his money.
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Jimmy’s butt – he’s kind of a hot daddy until he starts talking.
I’m enjoying the pace of the Iolo story at the moment. Clearly, Tyler is warming to him after the attack and seems sincere even if there is a smidgen of guilt thrown in. Iolo is preoccupied with recovering from his injuries and staying in control of his OCD which means he isn’t sitting around pining for Tyler anymore. If the show plans to pair them romantically, this slow burn is the way to go. Oh, and I think it’s hilarious that Tyler keeps concealer on-hand.
Who knew Ben could be so….charming? I’m sure it won’t last, but it’s a nice beat to his story before the kickoff of whatever “explosive” exit is planned for Paul.
A Robert & Charity affair would be good drama, but PLEASE don’t let her get pregnant again. The Dingles are running out of names and will just have to call him Jesus if it’s a boy. I’ve been looking forward to this part of Lawrence’s story, but it’s off to a start that worries me. I’m already tired of Chrissie whinging on about her right to know who her biological father is.
EE: I loved the scene as well. One thing a lot of shows miss is that they need happy moments like this to give stakes to the later drama.
ED: I enjoyed seeing Robert scheming again. I wouldn’t be surprised if he does end up having an affair with Charity. They’re better matched than Robert and Aaron. I don’t mind Aaron’s scenes with live, but Robert’s comments grate on me. They’re relationship is too new for him to get to have a voice in Aaron and Liv’s relationship.
Ross’s whining is really annoying. Between the initial affair and his failed double murder plot, his hands aren’t clean. I can get not wanting to spend time with Pete, but he shouldn’t be indignant if Finn doesn’t want to pick sides. Meanwhile, Emma’s scheming should make Finn and Pete want to get as far away from her as possible.
DOOL: It still looks like I made the right choice to stop watching after Will’s funeral.
