This week in Gays of Our Lives, the closet continues to be a destructive, even life threatening force. On Emmerdale, Lawrence is devastated when Ronnie is seriously hurt, forcing Lawrence to face up to his feelings for his former lover. Yet determined to prove to his wife that he’s straight, Lawrence takes foolish, dangerous chances. Meanwhile, on The Haves and The Have Nots, Jeffrey decides to seduce sexy cop Justin. But is Jeffrey taking his life in his hands playing games with the violent closet case? And on Greenleaf, Kevin decides having a baby with his wife might make his desire for men go away. He’s going to find out he’s very wrong. All this — and more!

I just love how folks on soaps just drop careers and start new ones on a whim, including jobs they have no experience or interest in before that scene. But I hope Paul going to be a PI actually leads to some story. We know Christopher Sean can do the action/adventure stuff from his Hawaii Five-O work. And I do think he and John have such great father/son chemistry. That might be fun to watch.
So Sonny just sold his club (or had Adrienne do it)? What a random story point. The show didn’t give a reason, but nothing they do makes much sense. It seems especially odd given that Sonny will be back in town any day now. Seems to me the real reason for the sale was to give Eddie and Dario something to do more than anything. They are characters with no reason or purpose. I’d write them out if it were me.
Man that Brady is such a drama queen. Calm down. It’s not about you.
Wonder what happened in New Zealand that Steven is running from? Now that could be juicy.
Not surprised he and Lauren got back together. That makes it even more inevitable that he’ll cheat on her with Johnny. I think it’s lazy to have two sisters (Abi, Lauren) betrayed by gay/bi men, but the show probably thinks it’s clever writing.
Too bad that Ben wasn’t able to help Jay get a job. This thing is going to haunt Jay forever, isn’t it? I hope things get better for him soon.
Greenleaf (U.S.)
Oprah is probably about the best thing on this show. I wish we’d see more of her. I loved that confrontation scene between her and her pedophile brother, Mac. And we definitely need more scenes with her and Mae. Those are the kind of clashes that make soaps soapy.
Oh, this show has some fine black men. That Noah is hot.
Crystal, honey, it’s never a good sign when your husband’s idea of a romantic night is watching The Bachelor over ice cream. Red flags, anybody?
I get so tired of closet case stories, even though I know they still need to be told. I just hope this is something different. It might intriguing if the show tells the story of trying to keep your faith while living as an openly gay man. That’s something we haven’t seen before. So far though, it’s rather predictable.
A relationship is probably the last thing Dom needs right now given that he’s still recovering form Arthur’s death. I think he’s using getting involved with Issac as a way of avoiding dealing with his loss. Given that it’s bound to get messy.
Moreover, I know that Dom and Issac said there would be no strings, but we know that it’s not going to work out that way. And I’m okay with that. I like them together so far. Issac seems like an interesting character and he and Dom do have chemistry. Let’s hope it stays as compelling going forward.

On Hollyoaks – If James’ ex-boyfriend, Carter, has “a new lover,” then Carter must be bisexual, because the person James sees Carter with and enlists John Paul’s help over is a woman named “Lara.”
I loved Ben’s impression of Phil. I’m also enjoying how he and Paul are just a couple on the landscape for the time being. It’s fun to watch.
