TV Source Magazine staff run down the Week in Soaps for September 17-21, 2018 in a new edition of the TV Source podcast. A major recast at Days of our Lives brings Brandon Barash (ex-Johnny, GH) temporarily into the role of Stefan DiMera; when *some* WilSon fans attack — an article gets some people irate over the idea of recasting Paul; does General Hospital creative have an issue with Jason Morgan? Why is Kyle Abbott such a douchebag on The Young and the Restless? Why is Elani breaking our hearts on Days of our Lives? So many questions, so much to discuss. Dive into the new TV Source podcast episode!

Episode Taped: September 23, 2018
Hosts: Ryan, Coryon, Michele, Ashley and making her podcast debut, Lacey! With a special pop-in appearance by Johnathon.

Hot Topics (1:20)

  • Brandon Barash to take over role of DAYS’ Stefan from Tyler Christopher for emergency recast. Won’t divulge details, but wish Tyler well and hope for the best. Bring up Brandon as a possible Chad recast down the line.
  • Jennifer Gareis back on contract at B&B. Congratulations to her and fans of Donna Logan, but what is the longterm plan for the characters?
  • Eric Braeden speaks out of Dougie Davidson’s firing! Does Y&R have a vet problem?
  • Source vs. Some Angry WilSon Fans! A small batch of musty bottoms get irate over TV Source’s feature suggesting actors for a Paul recast. What we said, what they read, and why they’re ridiculous.

General Hospital (30:00)

  • Drew stands on his own when Sam offers a shoulder of comfort re: Oscar. It seems like things are finally started to progress on the Drew/Sam/Jason front, but does it matter? Speaking of Jason, a great scene with Robin showed just how much Jason isn’t reacting to the things in his life and it’s weird. GH’s .500 writing is preventing anyone from gaining any sustained momentum and we wonder if it’s because they don’t know how to write the Jason they’ve been given.

The Young and the Restless (56:30)

  • Kyle frames Billy for embezzlement. What’s Kyle’s motivation in all of this? Some suspect it’s an attempt to make him “Jack 2.0” but why when Jack never wins at anything and has been a loser for three plus decades now? Thoughts on Kyle’s heel turn.
  • Sharon’s graduation.

Days of our Lives (1:09:33)

  • Reaction to the fall trailer: You’d think we’d be unanimous in our love for it but one host wasn’t feeling it.
  • Hattie assumes Marlena’s life and it’s must see soap TV! From one-liners to the ghetto coming out, can Hattie keep up this scam with John for long? What’s in it for her?
  • Gabi has resorted to drugging a pregnant Abigail in her quest for revenge. We like Gabi but this is going a bit too far. Also how did she get her upstairs?
  • Eli and Lani gave us all the feels this week, only to have it snatched away soon after. Reaction to “the talk” and where they go from here. New love interests needed to circle back to the love that we’ve been denied?

#CIN (1:50:11)

  • Ben is an innocent, previous, 12-pack having bb who is being railroaded by MAGA Hope. In a sign of the trust they’ve formed, Ben is able to sway Ciara to his side, that is until Hope lays out the (fake) facts. A torn Ciara doesn’t know what to do, but big brother Shawn is beginning to realize that his future brother-in-law not only has better abs than him, but he also may be right about his mama. Why Ciara apologizing to Tripp (about Ben) isn’t necessarily an issue, but Tripp blaming Ciara for Claire kissing him definitely is.
