A new face will be making her debut in Genoa City in a few weeks! Former General Hospital star Brytni Sarpy is joining the cast of The Young and the Restless in a new contract role.

Soap Opera Digest was the first to report the casting news. SOD reports Sarpy will play Elena Dawson. She begins taping next week and will reportedly interact with a lot of major players in town.

Brytni Sarpy made her soap debut in 2015 as GH’s Valerie Spencer. After a mixing it up initially in a few romances with Dillon Quartermaine, Curtis Ashford and affair with Dante Falconeri, Valerie’s had little to do. Despite being part of a legacy family and member of the police department with rampant unsolved crimes, there’s been little interest in writing for the character. Even sparks between Valerie and Kristina (played by Lexi Ainsworth) went nowhere. Nevertheless, GH’s loss is Y&R’s gain.

What can we expect to see from GC’s newest transplant? If TV Source deputy editor Ashley Dionne has her way, Elena will cozy up to Devon (Bryton James). In the summer of 2016, Ashley tweeted about the pair in the hopes they’d one day cross paths.

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
